We had 15 cyclists register for today's Amelia Island Main Beach ride, plus one who tried but wasn't able to register (platform meltdown?), and two who registered but didn't show up, so please do the math! Regardless, it was another fun day to go for a bike ride, with the sun hiding behind clouds and spritzes of rain keeping yesterday's steamy heat at bay.
Today was also Fernandina Beach's "43rd Annual Kingfish Tournament and Fishing Rodeo," with prizes being awarded at downtown's new Waterfront Park. Looks like a lot of fun, if you're into that sort of thing--as a lot of people are! And for us cyclists, it was fun to see all the big boat trailers parked at Dee Dee Bartels boat ramp. Read all about it:
Other than some sort of "Game Trucks" event being set up at Main Beach (?), a swim meet at the Atlantic Rec Center, a yard sale at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church--and more-- it was a laid-back kind of Saturday morning, and AFAIK, good times were had by all.
Thanks to all who came out to ride with us today.
