All,

It was a cold morning when I walked Dory.  I could see my breath.

Temperatures at ride start were 50 degrees but it was sunny with almost no wind.  I drove to SuperCorsa and brought a jacket if needed.  It turns out the weather was OK for riding.  Had it been 10 degrees warmer I would say conditions would have been perfect.

In any case, 10 riders gathered at SuperCorsa for the weekly Friday Special.  We congratulated our new Club President, ScottK and sang happy birthday to PeterB.  After a brief safety brief we headed south to Mayport in our usual groups.

At the Mayport Ferry Pavilion we ran across "guess who?" (see photo).  PeterP looked terrific and chipper as always.  He still has some pain but he's healing.  The doctor's said surgery is not necessary (always good news) since he has good feeling and movement in his extremities.  He'll just have to heal naturally.  I was impressed how easily he was moving (albeit a little slowly...perfectly understandable).  Anyway, it was good seeing Peter up and about!

We had quite a crowd for the Brain Trust at V's (see photo).  JoeP and PattiP were there as was birthday boy PeterB.  ConnieC came by to say hi too.  Cookies were provided by KathleenF (birthday boy's better half) and MsSanta (my better half).  A good time was had by all.

As mentioned at the ride start, I will be unable to lead the Friday Special for the next 3 Fridays.

Keep on Peddlin',
George

Hello Fellow Cyclists,

Tomorrow’s ride looks to be ideal — starting temps in the low 50s warming into the 60s by 11am with low winds.

At this time only 7 of us are signed up, but I’m guessing we’ll have many more by the 9am start.

See you then at Main Beach.

Although today’s ride started off a little cool, by 10am it was nearing 60 degrees with low winds and plenty of sunshine — another lovely December day (especially if you consider the single digits of the Midwest)!  Others were out riding today and we met up with a group of at least 33 cyclists at the Fort that were part of a group — I never heard who they were.

We had 11 veteran riders who exercised caution and safety and, as a result, we had no falls or mishaps — nor did we have any flats or mechanicals.

I’m attaching two photos that I remembered to snap without prompting — even an old dog can learn new tricks (but don’t expect that I’ll always remember).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hello Fellow Cyclists,

Tomorrow’s ride is cancelled.  It looks to be unusually frigid — the coldest day of this fall/winter with starting temps in the low 40s and 17 mph winds, warming into the upper 40s by noon.

If you decide to ride on your own, have fun and be careful!

-JIM
