Sixteen on the ride today to celebrate Greg B. going over 8K miles on the year. Those who have ridden with Greg know he’s always moving.
Not to be missed is our very own Grear K. fresh off the ride and ready to perform 7 concerts over the next two weeks with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. Five Holiday Pops Concerts and twice for Handel’s Messiah. Concert info here: https://my.jaxsymphony.org/overview/holiday-pops?_ga=2.31228092.2008634473.1670266521-1340079615.1670266521 and here https://my.jaxsymphony.org/overview/holiday-pops?_ga=2.31228092.2008634473.1670266521-1340079615.1670266521 Let’s hope he doesn’t develop a messianic complex.
Big Thank You! to Joe for reaching out to City officials about the glass on the Fletcher bike lanes. It is substantially better today. Probably got cleaned up for the JDRF ride and we’ll need to work on systemic improvements.
Four for lunch at the Salty.
Ride tomorrow with Doug from Super Corsa.

Melissa,
Would Ferrovial Services please sweep the bike lane on the SR200 route please? We have debris from garbage/recycling collection, beach activities, and construction sites that builds up in the bike lanes and creates a hazard. Thank you
Waste Management will be downing the recycle truck tonight to inspect for leaks.

Subject: RE: Cyclists concerns and needs
Good morning, Mayor:
I similarly ride S. Fletcher Avenue daily so I am familiar with the condition of the bicycle lanes.
That being said, S. Fletcher Avenue is a state road: the City does not maintain the road or the bicycle lanes. I will have Mr. Glisson provide a point of contact with the State Department of Transportation for Mr. Pitchko (and others) to share the concerns.
I will advise Waste Management officials of the debris (glass) concerns.
I expect Chief Hurley can appropriately address sidewalk usage by bicycles/e-bikes.

Spoke with several local bicyclists while directing traffic Saturday and they shared some concerns (see below and ignore the last paragraph regarding lot sizes). Most involve maintenance of bike paths the other electric bikes on sidewalks. Thanks in advance -- Mike ________________________________________

Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender, were expecting this email, and know the content is safe. To Mayor Mike Lednovich, Thanks for introducing yourself to me, at the JDRF course at the entrance of Fort Clinch on Saturday. Hope you didn’t have any mishaps there. We discussed several items that bikers as well as vehicle traffic would approve of. 1. Glass shards around garage bins on the bike lane as well the shards drop out on the vehicle lanes on Mondays and and days beyond. Worst roads: South Fletcher going South and North Fletcher. Most likely there’s more roads. 2. Sand, debris, lawns/ weeds growing into the bike lane. Bike lanes need to be taken care of by keeping them swept clean and safe. 3. Vehicles in the bike lanes on South Fletcher. Causing bikers to bike in the vehicle lane. 4. Sidewalks, Adult bikers and bikers with E-Bikes, biking on the sidewalks. Since bikes are considered vehicles I can’t believe it’s allowed. I see minors riding on the sidewalks up to age 17. My wife and I are, Patricia and Joseph Pitchko, 403 Tarpon Ave. #420. FB. Venting now, the development next to Ocean Park. The lot size is a “postage stamp”, with huge homes on it. You can “shake”your neighbors hand. The builders have to place a ladder in the neighbors yard just to construct the house. I would hate to see a fire on a windy day. Million dollar classless homes. Totally detracts from the area. A developer’s paradise:( People must be desperate to move here. Maybe the city should increase lot sizes, and slow down the build. I’ll be looking forward what you can do for the cycling community.
