Amy will do the official ride report. We had another rider hit today. Patty R. Was travelling north by beach access 27 heading back to main beach. She was alone. A car travelling south turned left into the beach access, was distracted, and Patty, seeing the car slammed on brakes but hit the car's back fender and went over the car landing on pavement with main impact to chin, and jaw.
I just left the hospital. She is being transferred to Shands trauma center. She has multiple bilateral jaw (mandible) fractures, as well as dislocation, a fracture in her chin, a fracture of the temporal bone behind her right ear. She also suffered a broken right forearm. She will most likely have to have surgery on her jaw. Please pray for healing.
The driver told police he was trying to reach something on the floor for his daughter, thus, not seeing Patty . Patty said he pulled into the parking area and looked like he was going to leave, but a woman who saw this, took a photo of his license plate and others stopped him from leaving.
This is not the first ride report I wanted to send. Again, please say a prayer for Patty.
