Today's forecast? HOT!!! 🥵 So 16 NFBC registered riders showed up at Main Beach to go for a sweltering bike ride, remembering to hydrate. We welcomed two new members, Jim having moved here from CA and Jon having moved here from GA, both very nice guys and very good cyclists.
Even the usually cool Ft Clinch canopy road was steamy today, with a hot wind out of the west. We were reminded by Mike S of Thursday's rescue of an injured fawn, which he reported had been transferred from OtterSpace Wildlife in Hilliard, to the Wildlife Rescue Coalition in St Augustine. Based on OtterSpace's recommendation, our group named our fawn "Pedal." Since these are two very worthy organizations, Mike has suggested we donate to them what we can. Here are their websites:
Despite the heat, our rest stop at the Ft Clinch Visitors Center was exra-entertaining, with chats going on about some of our cyclists' cross-country tour, Roger reporting on driving around the country, Linda's foster kittens, and more. So we nearly overstayed our welcome when we were given a two-minute warning to ride on into the heat.
Thanks again to all who came out to ride with us today, and to Mike L for co-ride leading.
Meanwhile, come on, rain!
