Thanks to a Dr Frankenstein-style wrist, yours truly remains semi-AWOL for this Saturday's ride leadership--further complicated by tickets to The Big Game!  I will definitely show up at Main Beach at the usual time to pass the helmet and collect our November $$$ for Dawgies, render the safety briefing, and designate an actual ride leader.  Also, please keep in mind the Right Whale Festival will be cranking up at Main Beach around 10:00.  It won't affect the route, but we might have to figure out another place to start the ride.  So stay tuned!

Otherwise, tomorrow's ride will be "led" by ????????????? and/or a designated co-ride leader, departing at 9:00 AM from Main Beach, located at South Fletcher Ave. (A1A) and Atlantic Ave., near the Recreation Center and the entrance to Fort Clinch State Park.  We usually park east of the Skateboard Park.  The standard routes are 30-35 miles, but this uniquely designed ride allows riders to cut off loops along the way to reduce the overall distance, if desired.  

This being the first Saturday of the month of November 2025, we will pass the helmet at Main Beach to collect $$$ for the Doggies, our way of thanking the Nassau Humane Society for their rest-stop hospitality at the Dog Park, and all they do for lucky dogs (and tired cyclists).

Online registration with NFBC is required for members and non-members who intend to ride with a group of cyclists on tomorrow's Amelia Island Main Beach ride.  Go to NFBC.us and follow the prompts.

Bicycle helmets are mandatory, as is a bicycle in good working condition. Safe cycling is an absolute must, and safety rules will be emphasized before the start of each ride. As always, cyclists are required to obey all traffic laws, or risk being ticketed by local law enforcement officers...or worse!

Hello Amelia Island NFBC Riders,

As promised, today’s ride began quite cool with temperatures around 50degrees; however, it was sunny and crisp.  We had just 7 riders brave the cool morning, most of whom were regular Friday cyclists.  Although it was an auspicious start, soon after we began, Michelle went down, hitting a good-size branch in the bike lane.  She fell onto the road, but cars were far enough away that her only injuries were minor scrapes and road rash (she did have holes in her fashionable cycling attire).  Peter was kind enough to ride home, pick up his truck, and transport Michelle and her bike home — thank you Peter!

The remainder of the ride was unremarkable, but quite pleasant and a good workout.  We had about 15 folks attend the V’s Pizza Brain Trust, including our GOAT ride leader, Joe Pitchko and his sidekick, Patti.  

Those who appreciate photos will be happy to hear that I finally have remembered (without prompting) to snap a couple of pics — please see attached.
