to Amelia Island Cycling
This morning was so foggy, we expected to hear a foghorn honking off the Cumberland Sound.  Instead, there was silence, just the roar of waves coming out of the SSE...until 23 registered cyclists showed up at Main Beach to go for a bike ride.  Then the chatting and fun began--with few complaints about the new NFBC.us platform.

There was some concern about the Amelia Concours happening today at the Ritz Carlton, with drivers lining up to park and pay big bucks to see the show.  They also had fancy-car auctions going on, so we expected a lot of traffic menacing our usual Saturday morning route.

Thanks to good reporting by co-ride leader Mike L, it turns out there were no serious problems.  Mike was also kind enough to escort new rider Bret C who was worried he wouldn't be able to keep up with our speed demons.  Thanks also go out to Peter B for keeping riders out on the road in a timely fashion.

As today was the first Saturday in the month of March 2026, our passing of the helmet yielded a generous $110.00, our way of thanking the Nassau Humane Society for their Dog Park rest-stop hospitality, and for all they do for lucky dogs.  Since we started our little fundraiser in October, 2016--thanks to Dan L--we have donated a grand total of $12,999.00.  One more dollar and we will reach $13,000.00!   Kathleen urged us to thank Dan in person on March 27 at V's Pizza, and to say goodbye as he leaves us for historic Maryland.

As today's sun rose in the sky, the fog lifted, the air warmed, and the no-see-ums departed. Thanks again to all who came out to ride with us today.
