The Fortran high level HDF5 library introduces a null character at the
end of string attributes when they are read.
The helper function located at
http://code.google.com/p/amelet-hdf/source/browse/amelethdf-fortran/trunk/src/amelethdf/amelethdf.f90#76
"read_attribute" cleans the string before returning it.
It is the first time I speak of the http://code.google.com/p/amelet-hdf
project. This project aims at providing helper functions to handle
Amelet-HDF files (in read mode for a first time). The code is provided
in C and Fortran language. I hope this will be helpful.
I'd like this project very opened and we wish welcome new commiters
very soon. Let me know if you are interested.
Any feedback is appreciated,
Regards,
Cyril.

Yes a "Google Code Project" is like a Sourceforge Project, it is a
free hosting tool for free project.
The official forum (and mailing list, you can post to the address
amele...@googlegroups.com) of the project is Amelet-HDF Google
Group. So you are already registered.
The purpose of Amelet-HDF project is firstly Amelet-HDF specification
handling. And as Amelet-HDF relies on HDF5, the project deals largely
with HDF5 technology as well.
Nice to read you may contribute, feel free to ask information.
Best regards,
Cyril.
