Merry Christmas from the Calls!

As Christmas approaches, we have had time to reflect on all that we have been blessed with this past year.  We have been blessed with the best friends and family in the world, and are so grateful to have each of you in our lives.

We moved into our new house in June, and we are mostly settled in.  We love the house and really enjoy being in our own space, instead of an apartment or condo.  The kids have so much fun with the extra space to roam, a yard to play in, and the trampoline we bought has brought them many hours of pleasure.  Just in case you need it here is our address and phone number:

112 Remington Road
Madison, AL 35758

Jensen started first grade and riding the bus home from school this year.  For some reason he really enjoys riding the bus.  The first few weeks of school when I asked him what his favorite part of the day was he would say, "riding the bus".  I would have him take the bus to school as well, but it comes at 6:40 AM, and there is no way he would be out of bed and ready in time.  Jensen is not a morning person by any means, but any of you who know Josh or myself can totally see where he gets it from.  Jensen continues to do well in school, and has been put in the accelerated reading program here, which allows him to earn prizes the more books he reads.  His teacher is great, and I am the class room mother again this year.  Thankfully she is very laid back, and so I don't have much to do other than coordinate parties (no complaints there) and make copies from time to time.
Jensen was also involved in a variety of sports this last year.  He played basketball last winter, t-ball in the spring, and football in the fall.  His favorite so far has been basketball, and he is really excited for the next season to start.  Although it kept us very busy, he had fun, and it was a blast for us to go to all of his games.

Jaina started joyschool for preschool this year, and she loves it!   She gets along well with all of the girls in her group, and hates when it is time to go home.  She has developed a deep love for anything princess related, like most girls her age I suppose, and loves to dress up in her princess dresses.  Not only does she like princess stuff, but she acts very much like a princess.  She has a very cute, almost sing-song voice, and loves to sing and dance.   If she had her way she would only own and wear dresses.  It is hard to explain to her that dresses just aren't always practical.  If only we could get her table manners to improve she really would be a princess.  She is more like Ariel the first time she sat down to eat on land, using all of her utensils the wrong way.  I haven't seen her try to comb her hair with a fork yet, but it would not surprise me if she did.

Work has been going well for Josh.  He has been put on some big projects that definitely keep him busy.  He has continued to play Volleyball, which has been a great stress reliever for him, especially with all of the stress of this past year.  People tell you that it is stressful building a house, especially a custom home, but we had no comprehension of how stressful until we got ourselves into it.  The house was definitely worth it though.  It has so many unique features, we would have never found anything like it on the market.  Josh's favorite features are the 10' ceilings, 8' doors (he doesn't have to duck through doors anymore), and a tub long enough that he can lay in it and actually be covered with water.

I have kept myself busy teaching joyschool 1 week each month, teaching the 6 year old class at church, being the room mother for Jensen's class, and doing all of the other daily things moms have to do.  I am so grateful I have the opportunity to stay home with with my kids.  I love that I get to see Jensen get off the bus, help him with his homework, and talk with him about his day.  I love to that I get to be with Jaina all day.  She definitely has the power to frustrate me to the point that I feel like I will explode, but she also makes me laugh, and can be the sweetest thing ever.  Hugs and kisses from both my kids make all the stresses of the world melt away, and I am thankful to have them.

I hope that you all have a happy and healthy holiday season.  We love you all!

Christine, Josh, Jensen, and Jaina
