Hello Everyone,

Didn't want to spam the list, but if you don't watch HA closely you may
not know about the 4.60.0-beta release. There have been a few fixes, but
the major items are binary APEv2 tag support (for cover art, generally),
raw PCM input support, and the elimination of the relatively small
maximum number of channels (it used to be 16 if they were all
unassigned, now it's 256 regardless of assignment, and the actual limit
built into the format is 4096).

Note that I implemented the binary tag stuff in a backward-compatible
way (I try to keep API changes to a minimum) and generated WavPack files
will not break old decoder unless they actually exceed the old limit on
channel count (and then you just get an error message).

You can find all the details here (and download either Windows or Linux
versions):

I have also set up an SVN branch "newdev" to start working on the next
set of WavPack changes, and these will be significantly bigger than the
minor evolution of this release. Among the plans are handling more
uncompressed audio file formats and getting rid of all the 4 GB file
size limit stuff (in both the library and the command-line programs). I
have already got basic .CAF (Apple's core audio format) support in SVN,
and will be looking into one of the 64-bit extended WAV formats as well.

Thanks for your time and support and please let me know if you have any
suggestions or questions (and especially if you find a bug in the beta!)

Kind regards,
David
