All,

The Universal Ambisonic specification V0.96 is available here:

http://ambisonics.googlegroups.com/web/Universal_Ambisonic_0.96.pdf

I have mainly changed some language, but also reduced the valid
speaker arrays that decoders must implement.

I'm looking for ways to simplify it further, any suggestions?

I'm also thinking of changing the name since the perception that
'universal' refers to 'can represent any spherical harmonic
combination' is persistent. Universal is actually intended to mean
'can be understood by any environment (unlike meta-data based file
formats).

Maybe a name more oriented towards 'practical ambisonics' would be
more appropriate... but that just doesn't ring right. How about
ambidextrous ambisonics ... or ... hmm, requires thought.

Hi Dave,

> How about General Ambisonics (as in 'General Midi') ?

its not very googlable. From a practicality / useability point of
view, it would be a benefit to be able to easily google the name.

I'm just trying to think of the principle characteristics of UA ...
its definitely about user experience / practicality / real-world uses
...
