列治文残疾资源中心(DRC)从约翰.高登自闭症慈善基金会得到一些资金, 用于提供喘息服务补贴. 喘息服務是由第三方服务提供者暂时替代照顾者的照顾责任, 以提供照顾者获得短暂休息的机会. 这种补贴将为有责任照顾残疾或有特殊需要的孩子的低收入家庭或个人获得喘息服务提供财政上的补助.

Richmond’s Disability Resource Centre (DRC) has obtained some funding from a charitable John Gordon Autism Foundation to provide Respite Care Subsidy.  The subsidy provides financial assistance for respite care services to low income families or individuals who are responsible for the care of children or individuals with special needs or disabilities.  For detail information and application please contact Ella Huang at 604-232-2404.

(She is off until late February.)

Some of the local occupational therapists are coming together to hold and great event, "Toys Drive"  for families with special need child. This is a good opportunity to receive free consultation about their child's development, learn about how to use and chose right toys to benefit their children, and have an opportunity to donate your unused toys (playing equipments) or get toys for free.

我觉得如果是同等程度, 低收入家庭的优先级会比较高. 如果程度比较重, 根据具体情况可能会考虑. 但如果资金有限申请人太多, 也许低收入就是个前提条件了.

还是得问具体联系人.

CLBC 有这种服务, 但补贴也是要申请的, 排不上队等于没有.

The idea is for those families who have difficulty financially to hire
respite workers themselves. The DRC will do a assessment of the
family's need to determine how much subsidy can be provided. The
subsidy can only be used to hire workers on their approved list of
workers to ensure quality.
Just want to clarify... these are not therapists but they have
received formal training in supporting people with disability through
the DRC.
