Back Then
Lord would it have been easier back then, then now,
To walk the earth with you somehow?
To see you move among the crowds,
Calling your Name, and Oh so loud.
I just wonder Lord was any worse back then,
Were men suffering as much now as then?
It seems everything is so out of control,
Evil is rampant, many lives are stole.
You drew the crowds far and wide,
But still there was a Great Divide.
Men's hearts refused to hear your Word,
You tried dear Lord, but few that heard.
Oh to give you Shelter when you were in need,
To Listen to you, when your heart would bleed,
As you had to put up with those Pharisee's,
who mocked you Lord, almost constantly.
But still you went along your way,
You never gave up or went astray.
You had a purpose and a Plan,
No one would stop you, even man!
You were resolute and set your course,
even amidst so great a Force.
So many against you, how could you stand?
Or tolerate the blindness of man?
I would love to have seen your long wavy hair,
blowing in the wind without a care,
Your jaw so strong and arms of steel,
Yet to mankind, you had no appeal.
To hear you preach the Sermon on the Mount,
And to look about the crowds to count,
The hungry look upon their face,
as They watched The Master in His Grace.
To walk with you along the Shore,
and watch you reach out to help the poor,
The sick you healed, the blind did see,
The lame did walk, as they reached out to thee.
My Child, I know your heart and soul,
I know, you would love to have consoled,
But I have chosen this time for thee,
Now is your time, not then, you see!
Lord I know we have work to do,
Above all else, we must please you.
Our Master and Lord, Forever More,
As all Man's sins, you did bore!
You left us with such a will to fight,
No matter how long or hard our plight.
You gave us Life and your Blessed Peace,
You suffered and died for our Release.
We must not let these storms of life,
get us down or cause such strife,
What an example you are to us,
Jesus Our Lord, our Hope and Trust!
I know your walk on earth has been hard,
but your faith daughter, you must never discard.
Enjoy your life, Delight in Me,
I gave you Life, so you might see.
Into your hands I have placed the Call,
Spread my Word but most of all,
Reach out my child and touch the Lost,
Do this, no matter what the cost!
Do not be downcast and filled with fear,
I am Ever Present and Always Near!
Just Lean on Me, and take my hand,
One day, my child, you will understand!
