A taste of hope

Some days as I start my journey to work through the city, I feel there
is little hope for mankind. I look at the sullen faces in the cars,
and at the depression on the faces of the pedestrians, and it's as
though all the trouble and sadness of the world pours in the window
with me. News is bad, stories are sad, prices are high, wages are
low. Wars rage, genocide continues.... This is what the faces around
me in the cars reflect. Some days it's enough to make me feel like the
lyrics of East to West.... The war begins again, and all I see is the
bad, not the good. I find myself clinging to the Word, just to make
the day. You all know that still, quiet voice that tells you that it
will be alright, on those days, it's VERY quiet.
Then you have the rare morning like this one.... Traffic was an
abomination. Rude and forceful people trying to smash you off the
road....Curses, vile oaths, profanity everywhere....Except the corner
near Cesar's Taco's....Funny name, I always imagine Julius Caesar
serving Tacos..... Makes me grin... Any way, I come to the corner, and
there is a sight that filled me with hope.
First I see a lady walking onm the sidewalk, and I see a man walking
in front of her, they look young, early 20's or so... She's smiling
and the man keeps looking back, smiling and chatting away. Then I see
him... A little boy 4-5 years old behind his Daddy on the sidewalk,
being pulled along in a little red wagon. He's so happy and proud to
be in that wagon with his family, that it radiates to everybody
around. I simply smile like I just found a million dollars... That
family was out for a morning walk, and they were sooooo happy to be
together, and draggin' their son in that Red Wagon. I felt it rush
into the car with me.... Hope!
I really felt a tangible warming of the air around me, and the sky
seemed to light up with it.... Hope! That family had real joy, and
hope, and they were out walking, celebrating their wonderful gift with
everybody!
So, thank you, family that I've never met, for sharing your hope and
joy with a cold and beat up world this morning! Thanks for making me
smile !!!

Peace!!!!
