Samiksha Thorat is 5 years old and stays in Daund (Pune), Maharashtra. She has complete hear loss since her birth. Samiksha is suffering from Bilateral Profound Sensorineural Hearing Loss according to the findings of Dr. NEELAM VAIDYA (Consultant ENT Surgeon of KEM hospital, Pune). Her family comprises of her parents Mr. Yogesh Thorat and Ms. Madhuri Thorat. Samiksha is alert and reacts to sounds, which she hears with hearing aids on both ears.

Treatment Dr. NEELAM VAIDYA has recommended Cochlear Implant Surgery which is supposed to improve her speech perception, educational and social opportunities and quality of life. She will also require speech therapy for 3 years from recognized center of Cochlear implant. This is necessary to give her normal hearing and a normal lifestyle like other children. It will also aid her in acquiring normal speech. There are very encouraging results with children who have cochlear implants.

In order to provide an implant, her parents will be required to spend a substantial amount for the implant, hospitalization, post implant training etc.

The total estimated cost for the implant, hospitalization & post implant therapy is

Rs 7, 28000 (INR Seven Lakh Twenty Eight Thousand).

Cochlear Implant – INR 5, 98000
Hospitalization, Surgeon's fee – INR 80, 000
Post-implant training - INR 50,000/-
