ॐ महागणपतये नमः । ॐ श्रीमात्रे नमः ॥

सर्वेभ्यो नमः,   Wish you all very happy makara sankranti. Starting today, we will make the yahoo ambaa-L announcement only. Let us start our renewed journey here.

Notes:

प्रपन्नाः  - those who have surrendered to देवी,

अनन्यशरणाः -  those who have the firm conviction that they have no refuge other than her ( न अन्य = अनन्य,   तेभ्यः ताम् अन्य शरणः नास्ति )

शरणार्थिनः -- One who has Her refuge as the only अर्थ is  शरणार्थिन् and its plural is शरणर्थिनः

भक्तिनम्राः  - Those who have prostrated to her out of devotion;

तेषाम् -  their

आर्तिः - पीडा, दुःख: - troubles and difficulties

We plead to देवी that she be kindly disposed, benevolent, gracious, propitious towards us. The name प्रपन्नार्तिहरा in sambodhana form is प्रपन्नार्तिहरे. This verse addresses देवी directly in sambodhana. In samskritam sambodhana of देवी is देवि ( note the ह्रस्व इ). शान्तनवी also includes a lot of grammatical notes that require some knowledge of ashtadhyayi and vyAkaraNam. As a converse, thinking about these references can become a learning tool. For example, for the above text itself, there are references to  4.1.4 (based on anuvrtti will lead to स्त्रियाम् टाप्-प्रत्ययः) and 7.3.78 (will lead to सद सीदति)

(will post the roman version as a comment)

(to be contd)
