The Norton Sampler: Short Essays for Composition Book in pdf

"The Norton Sampler: A Short Introduction" is a book by Christopher Norton and Melvyn Bragg. A popular and engaging series of 65 short poems, all written in a clear, concise style that makes you want to read them again. All are neatly arranged by chronological pattern, with clear practical advice on how to compose an article. The book also includes a large amount of recommended reading, and a lot of good practical advice on the structure and organization of your essay.

I have always found that Norton and Bragg do an excellent job of showing the reader the main ideas behind a poem, but they leave it a little ambiguous as to how to phrase it so that it makes sense. I have always felt as though some of the poems were a bit haphazard and didn't really connect with me, even though at times it may have appeared as if they did. However, this book really helps to remedy this problem. After all, isn't that why we write poetry? Sometimes we're caught up in the flow of things and can't stop to think what the implications are of what we're saying, and the book helps to clear this up with its clear description of how to organize your thoughts. It's a very simple process that make perfect sense, and one that only take a short time to master.

Another great thing about this collection is the fact that it contains both commissioned and unpaid works from past and present Norton Sampler writers. The authors themselves discuss why they wrote their own poems, what they liked, and what they did not like about their work. There are also some truly charming poems, many of which I have enjoyed for years, and others that bring back memories for me long after the poem has faded from memory. The poems in this book are varied and cover a wide variety of topics, from religion to nature to history to politics, and everything else under the sun. If you enjoy classic essays on writing and have a few poems in mind from past and present, this is a great book for you to add to your collection.
