The Ginger Man by Donleavy is a novel, originally published in Paris in 55 in the year 1955. The novel is centered around the story of a ginger addict, Donalbain "Ginger" Taggert, who finds himself traveling to the exotic island of Santorini, Greece. On this trip, he falls in love with an American woman, Annabel Walker. Shortly thereafter, he becomes a United States citizen, and returns to Ohio to remarry.

The Ginger Man follows Donalbain and his travels across the islands of Greece and Santorini, where he befriends and falls in love with young Tulsi. Shortly thereafter, Donalbain and Tulsi get married, but Tulsi's husband, Fabian, doesn't believe their marriage should happen while Donleavy stays in Greece. Meanwhile, Donalbain's associate, Fab, comes to know of the hidden treasure of the Ginger Man hides, and he and Donalbain must go on a desperate quest to find it - and hopefully save themselves from danger.

Donleavy created this masterpiece when he decided to write a sequel to his Ginger Man book, and this he did by creating the character of Tulsi, the well-meaning but mistaken husband of Annabel. This, in turn, gave rise to Tulsi's story, which was Donleavy's follow-up to his Ginger Man book. In The Ginger Man by Donleavy, we are introduced to a new and interesting hero, and the plot is once again intricate, romantic, and captivating. Donleavy managed to create a complex, charming, and convincing character, and all this is done through his descriptive writing style. For anyone who has read his other novels, The Ginger Man by Donleavy is sure to be a pleasant and satisfying read.
