Readings for Diversity and Social Justice Book in pdf
The first reader to adequately cover the entirety of anti-black racism in America, Readings For Diversity and Social Justice comprehensively covers six of thematic issues: sexism, racism, anti-Judaism, anti-homophobia, xenophobia, and ableism (which I believe is a form of institutionalized racism.) Additionally, it examines the impact of capitalism on the working poor in the United States. It also considers how immigration laws affect the working class of a country and the state of the black American's in particular. Lastly, it looks at how environmental degradation and climate change affect the world as a whole. Each of these themes has important and varied viewpoints by scholars and renowned authors such as Ta-Kahn, Jaffe, Martin, Parks, Fisher, Lopez, Butler, Leiser, and others.

In reviewing "Readings for Diversity and Social Justice" I found that this book was challenging to read, even for a social justice-oriented book. Much of the information and analysis were deeply personal and subjective, yet there were many insightful discussions on race, gender, and environmental issues. This reader can benefit from a text book on diversity, because much of the research is directly relevant to current events happening today.
However, some of the text is rather dense and takes some time to read. It might be boring for some, especially those who do not like to read too much text or who prefer to read non-fiction materials with great amounts of detail. This book is heavy reading, and not for everyone, but it is definitely worth reading. For those looking for a good primer on a few of the themes listed above, and with an open mind, this text book will most likely satisfy that need. It is also very motivating for the reader.
