Physics for Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics Pearson New International Edition in PDF

Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Doug Giancoli is a great little book for those of us looking to learn more about the physical laws that govern our everyday lives. Specifically, I think it would be a good book for students studying pure physics and those of us in the engineering field looking to understand the behavior of balloons and air balloons. The book contains an excellent set of illustrations to illustrate points made, which is always a good way to draw attention to particular areas of a topic. The majority of the book consists of eleven working chapters that each have a clear focus, as well as a concise explanation of the topic. Parts are divided into chapters focusing on the subject of pure physics, contemporary physics, applied physics, thermodynamics, or fluid mechanics.

Part one of the book, "bors and bubbles: models and thermodynamics for large subatomic particles and systems" explains the basic model of gases and fluids. Parts two and three cover various areas in more detail. Parts four and five go into more advanced topics such as the Standard Model of particle physics. The final chapter, dealing with energy, briefly discusses the topic of free energy. While not entirely necessary to understand this book, it does make a good additional reading for those already familiar with some of the material.
Although this book is aimed at experienced engineers and scientists, it could also be useful for students who are just starting out in college or have a high school education. The easy to understand text makes the information easily accessible and it is also written in an engaging language. It is clearly written for the layman and even has very basic illustrations throughout. I enjoyed learning about the different areas covered in this book and am sure my fellow students will enjoy it as well.
