Sorry for the delay Alex

I have done a lot of riding in the North Eastern Cape, in particular the
Wartrail-Rhodes-Dangershoek-Lesotho area. We have a have family farm there
and so I spend at least eight weeks of the year there. It is remote; the
mountain scenery is varied and spectacular. We have access to a number of
farms in the area where we can ride jeep track, cattle paths and old trek
paths. There are some great climbs up remote mountain passes, awesome
descents into Dangershoek and fantastic slick rock riding. This area is
full of strange rock formations, caves, San Rock Art Paintings, mountain
streams and Sotho villages. If you are into birdlife, there is an abundance
including the Lammergeier and crowned crane.

I have travelled to more than 30 countries and if I had to list a top ten
most spectacular places for natural scenery in the world that I have been
to, the Balloch Valley, Wartrail and Dangershoek would be right up there.
As a mate of mine said It’s probably the most beautiful part of our
country and most South Africans never get to see it. South Africans always
ask about safety..when we leave the farm house for a day excursion
somewhere, we don’t even lock the doors!! If we leave the vehicle next to
one of the rivers for a bit of trout fishing, it wouldn’t be a problem to
leave it unlocked.

Check out the itinerary, get a group of 12+ together and we can have an
awesome 5 days of mountain biking. We can accommodate 22 people. I will
probably lead all the trips and will modify it according to the strength of
the group. If you are all similar riders then we don’t need another guide
but if the group is bigger than 12 and has strong riders and weaker riders
we may need another guide at an addition cost of R750 a day split between
the group.

There are a number of dates that have been set aside and to secure those
dates I suggest you book early, at least 4 months in advance. I am not
available Fri 7 October to Wed 12 October (local guide-but not for a strong
group) but for all the other slots I will organize and hopefully lead the
trip as well. This will be going out to a lot of mountain bikers so if you
want to secure one of the dates you need to get in quickly.

Cheers
Steve Forster
