Hello everyone,
Here is a bit of dabbling that I've done to use an ATSC digital TV signal as a bistatic radar signal source. It appears to work o.k. I set up a reference and probe antenna in my backyard for the experiment. Unlike FM radio signals used for similar results by others, the ATSC is spread out over a wide bandwidth so it has better range resolution. This also results in a lower S/N though.
I've attached the program that I used for the experiment. With a simple change, it will work with a LimeSDR.
One thought I have is to separate the pilot signal that could be used to get very good Doppler resolution, while using the 8VSB digital signal for range information. Should have some updates on this soon.
