Annual meeting of Aman National Network from 28th to 30th September, 2024

Dear Members,

 

Greetings from the Aman National Network Secretariat!

 

We are pleased to announce that the annual meeting of Aman National Network for this year has been scheduled. Our long-time network partner, Aakansha Seva Sadan, has generously offered to host the meeting in Patna, Bihar. Thank you so much Bandana ji. 

The most suitable dates the host organization has suggested are September 28th to 30th, 2024.

 

In this regard, the working committee of Aman National Network organized an online meeting on June 3rd to discuss the following points:-

 

- Members are expected to arrive in Patna on the morning of the 28th. An interactive session is planned in the afternoon with the Aman members and local organizations to discuss and understand the regional issues concerning women and VAW. A local resource person from the social movement or a progressive writer could be invited as a speaker to address the audience. 

 

- Day 2 will commence with the formal meeting with network members (detailed planning for the day is required)

 

- Day 3 will consist of a capacity-building session and an action plan for the network. Members are requested to book their return tickets by the 30th evening.

 

- Topics suggested for the short presentation/discussion/capacity building session include:

·         Climate change and its impact on women. The linkages of climate change with GBV.

·         Changes in laws and their impact on the survivours and work of civil society organisations.

·         CEDAW and DV.

·         Adolescent and GBV.

We kindly ask all members to share their availability for the annual meeting and suggest topics for capacity building that the network should discuss during the meeting.

I have also attached a form to this email to collect details of the participating members such as the number of members attending the meeting, their date and time of arrival and departure, room preference, etc.

 

Bandana ji from the host organisation has tentatively booked rooms at the hotel, and we need the exact names and numbers of attendees soon to confirm our booking with them.  Hence, please send your details by 10th August 2024. 

The hotel will provide you with a direct bill. The mode of payment and other details are also attached to this email.

Thanks for sharing the details of the Aman Network meeting to be held in Patna. 

I am happy to inform you that three of us, Purnima, Gita and myself will join the Aman national meeting in Patna. We will email the itinerary and accommodation requirement details in a couple of days. 

Other than the Nirantar team, we would also like to nominate one each senior leader from the 7 partner federations we work with in Bihar. These federations have extensive experience in working against GBV, especially domestic violence and sexual violence against girls. Since we are meeting in Patna they can comfortably make for the proposed meeting. We wish to nominate one leader each from the seven partner federations, but we can restrict the numbers to 3-4  in case there are logistical issues. 

As already expressed by Purnima, in her earlier email, we would like to share the findings of a survey jointly conducted by Nirantar, women's groups and federations in Bihar on the prevalence, causes, and impact of Witch Hunting on survivors.  We would require about 30 minutes to present the key findings and an hr for subsequent discussions. Kindly let me know if we need to share the presentation in advance to help organisers schedule a slot for the presentation.     

Our travel plans  and hotel accommodation details will be emailed to you in a couple of days. Please note that the federation leaders will not require hotel rooms for their stay in Patna.
