Dear Members,

Greetings from the National Secretariat of Aman!

We are very happy to share with you all that an article on Aman National Network’s work has been published today as part of a yearlong series of articles by the ‘Staying Alive’ leaflet being coordinated by Asmita Basu.

Ashmita Basu is an independent researcher and gender and law consultant who also worked with the Lawyers Collective, New Delhi, and played an active role in drafting the PWDV Act 2005. She reached out to Swayam last month with a request to write an article about the journey of the Aman National Network, as Swayam is holding the National Secretariat of the network. The focus of the article was on ground-level experiences with the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, to mark the 20 years of the Act’s implementation, reflecting on the challenges, stories of success, resilience and key lessons over the last 20 years.

Please find the link of the article:  https://theleaflet.in/staying-alive/firm-collective-action-across-states-is-crucial-aman-networks-ground-learnings-on-enforcing-the-domestic-violence-act

In preparing this article, we drew upon 20 years of our reports, members' experiences, and feedback, along with recommendations from organisations that are part of the Aman National Working Committee. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you all and the following organisations for their support in contributing to this article: Jagori, Ekta, Sangini, North East Network, Swayam, and Aaali.

The final compilation of this article was completed by the Swayam team.

Warm Regards,

Seema
