Assalamu alaikum,
We are 1 week away from the month of mercy, alhamdulilah. As Ramadan approaches, we should constantly look for ways to prepare our spirituality and build on our relationship with
Allah swt.
How can you prepare for Ramadan 2021? We have four helpful tips to help you become Ramadan-ready:
1. Increase in worship
Ramadan is not just about fasting, it’s about practicing all forms of worship, so that we are able to maintain our good deeds even after Ramadan has long passed us.
This may include:
- Increasing our recitation of the Quran and making an effort to understand and implement the verses.
- Remembering Allah swt by performing Thikr.
- Sending salawaat (salutations) upon the Prophet Mohammed pbuh.
- Increasing our salah by waking up to pray voluntary prayers such as Tahajjud (this is the night prayer performed after Isha
and before Fajr). This is a good way to prepare for those early suhoor nights and double your rewards at the same time!
2. Plan ahead and set realistic goals
The prophet pbuh said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah swt are those which are done consistently, even if they are little.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
Consistency is key! The ultimate goal is to ensure the goals we set do not end here, but for them to continue until we meet the next Ramadan, inshaAllah.
3. Take steps to end bad habits
Whether it’s minimising social media usage, watching less TV, backbiting, or losing your temper, now is the perfect time to tackle your bad habits.
4. Create an atmosphere
You may decide to call or visit loved ones to wish them a blessed month, create a countdown calendar, decorate your home or or read up on the origins of Ramadan, to make it that
little bit extra special.
It was narrated by Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali that the companions would supplicate for 6 months to reach Ramadan in the best of health. They will then pray for another 6 months, after
Ramadan, asking Allah to accept from them their acts of worship observed in the month of Ramadan.
May Allah swt allow us to reach Ramadan and for it to be accepted.
We wish you a peaceful Ramadan inshaAllah, filled with mercy and endless blessings.
