Joining The Club: For the first time since 2012, the WNBA was guaranteed a new champion in 2019 with a matchup between the Mystics and Sun. Washington prevailed in five games, being led by league MVP Elena Delle Donne playing through injury and Finals MVP Emma Meesseman being the missing piece that put the Mystics on top after coming up short in 2018.
Practical Move returned to the races for the first time since winning the April 8 Santa Anita Derby (G1) and picked up where he left off, taking a $63,700 allowance optional claimer Oct. 6 while coasting home by four lengths, again at Santa Anita Park, where he is 4-for-4.
Yakteen had said this week that a good effort could propel Practical Move to the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) on Nov. 4 in his backyard and at his favorite track. Today's race would appear to have done just that.
One theory is that these gas bubbles naturally build up within the fluid that lubricates your joints over time. Another is that stretching your back puts the fluid within your joints under pressure, creating vapor-filled pockets within your joints.
"Regardless of why it's there, stretching or trying to crack your back releases this gas, which sometimes results in an audible popping or cracking sound," says Dr. Kenneth Palmer, an orthopedic surgeon at Houston Methodist.
"If you're gently stretching your back and it cracks or pops naturally, it's likely not something that's bad for you or going to cause long-term damage," says Dr. Palmer. "But if you're using forceful, quick movements to try to crack your back or if you feel like you need to crack your back regularly, that's when we start to worry."
Other joint cracking is a mixed bag. Cracking your neck, for instance, isn't a great habit to pick up either, since doing so regularly can cause inflammation around important nerves. There are also the risks of adjusting your neck incorrectly, much like the aforementioned ones from improperly cracking your back.
Two Russian sources said Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov dismissed Major General Ivan Popov, commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army (CAA), after the latter complained a rotation of his men facing a Ukrainian counteroffensive south of Orikhiv in the western Zaporizia region was long overdue. The 58th CAA has reportedly been on the front lines since October.
In April 1992, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended back or side sleeping for healthy newborns to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome. Subsequently, the US Public Health Service organized a health care coalition to promote a "Back to Sleep Campaign" to advocate back or side sleeping for infants. Since 1992, our craniofacial anomalies center has witnessed a marked increase in the incidence of infants with defomational changes of the cranium and face. The purpose of this project was to study the etiologies of deformational plagiocephaly and possible correlation with infant head position. We reviewed 52 consecutive patients presenting with deformational plagiocephaly from January 1992 to December 1994. A diagnosis of deformational plagiocephaly was determined by (1) history (date when head shape change was first noted), (2) clinical examination (occipital flattening, contralateral forehead flattening, lowering of the eyebrow, and ear shearing), and (3) skull radiographs (patent cranial sutures). All infants had medical photography to document baseline craniofacial morphology and any follow-up changes after nonsurgical therapy. Cranial asymmetry was first noted after birth at a mean time of 3.6 months. All infants were initially positioned on their back/side. In 52 patients, 61% had right-sided flattening of the occiput (vs 39% left-sided). All infants had flattening of the occiput, contralateral brow lowering or inferior displacement of the brow, contralateral forehead flattening, and posterioinferior displacement of the ear. All skull radiographs demonstrated patent sutures. Follow-up of patients ranged from 3 to 22 months with a mean of 10.5 months. Follow-up clinical examination and photography demonstrated significant improvement of cranial form in all patients with recommended frequent head turning (73%), helmet molding (23%), and surgery (4%). Our unit has seen an increase in the number of infants with deformational plagiocephaly over the last three years. All of the affected infants in this study had been managed according to the officially recommended protocol of back/side positioning. These findings suggest a possible relationship between this type of infant positioning and the development of a deformational plagiocephaly. However, cranial asymmetry in this group of patients decreased significantly with nonsurgical therapy. We have not recommended cranial vault remodeling surgery for the mild and moderate types of this deformity. However, if there is evidence of increasing asymmetry of deformational plagiocephalic infants during follow-up and evidence of severe variants of these deformities, surgical correction of the cranial vault is recommended.

Thomas and Jeff Anderson, the defensive quality control coach, are the only two new coaches to join head coach Kevin Stefanski's staff in 2022. Thomas' coaching philosophy and demeanor impressed Stefanski, who viewed him as a great fit to the culture he's built in Cleveland since he became the Browns' head coach in 2020.
Even though Thomas reached the NFL in just six years since he first stepped into coaching, he's still treating the job as a learning opportunity to develop his skills and learn even more about the defensive line from Kiffin, a 17-year coaching veteran who's been in the league since 2018.
Engoron ordered that a court-appointed receiver take control of some Trump companies, putting the future oversight of Trump Tower and other marquee properties in doubt. An appeals court has since blocked enforcement of that aspect of the ruling, at least for now.
