Dear toastmasters and guests,

Thanks for your participation on ALU 69th Toastmaster Meeting. The meeting is WONDERFUL.

I put the photos with context in our SOHU blog below.

We have few active guests, Ben from Nanjing NO1 club and his beautiful girl friend Vivian, Mr Peng Jie, Zhou DingHao, Lillian from TaiWan toastmaster club, Jerel Bonner as our Q3 Area governor. Thanks for your support and active role volunteer.

“Twinkle, Twinkle, little Star, How I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky” This is a famous children's nursery rhyme. We are not singing tonight, but just talking about Star related topics.

  • Sunlight Mei, our senior toastmaster and ALU lead engineer, did good job as toastmaster! Well prepared on role registration, logistics, kind reminder before the meeting and he is very confident on whole meeting control. Transition of each session is good, also did some minor format change, like ask evaluator to read each project’s objectives before speech, which will make audience more focus on speaker’s speech with goal and can provide comments. No doubt, Sunlight won "Best Function Role".
  • Victor Chen, Our President, provided a good opening address and warm-up. And as table topic master, the theme is “STAR”. The questions are well prepared, which covers living environment, entertainment, travelling hotels, etc. The questions are short and easy for understanding. There are 5 active members/guests to deliver their table topic speech. Lillian won Best Table Topic Speaker.
  • 3 prepared speakers showed us their Unique performance.
  • Ben Xu shared with us how Android changes the Mobile Space. His ppt is well prepared. I like his demo with functionality and will try use other Android features;
  • Lulu Sheng, experienced toastmasters, just came back from her wonderful travelling. This time, she shared her Japan trip. From her speech, it is good chance to experience unique food, culture and suite in Japan. Also fulfill C8 project very well with vivid visual aids.
  • Katie Zhang, our always role model, dual member of ALU club and Nanjing NO1. She delivered her AC9 speech successfully. The project is very challenging to act as spokesperson facing hostile reporters and residents after a fire incident. She is very confident, relax and skillful on Q&A sessions. Katie, you have potential to be governor’s spokesperson. :) Katie won Best Speaker
  • We also had 3 powerful and skillful evaluators – Xujie, Jizong Yu and Lillian. Thanks Lillian’s support! All evaluators could provide specific feedback, need to be improved which using sandwich skills respectively. Lillian’s well-organized evaluation speech is impressive. Jizong won “Best Evaluator”.
  • Timer is Xiaofang Liu, this is the first time to take the role after joining toastmaster. She did good job to provide clear role introduction and detailed report at the end of meeting.
  • Ah-Counter is Fantasy Li, who made big progress comparing previous performance. Today he used good words or phases, like “First of all”, “Conquer”, etc. And using special statement to attract audience’s attention on his report. It’s very good.
  • Grammarian is Jerel. The word of today is unique/uniqueness. It’s pretty appropriate with the theme and easy understanding/usage during the speech. And as native of speaking English, he pointed out many improper usages. Like little Child should be Child; more than doubles should be more than double, I like film very well should be I like films very much, boy vs Man usage, etc.

Awards:

Best Speaker: Katie Zhang
Best Table Topic Speaker: Lillian
Best Evaluator: JiZong Yu
Best Function Role: Sunlight Mei

Looking forward to your next meeting!  Just be remind: Attend the toastmaster regularly is every toastmaster’ mission.

Lillian has been toastmaster for almost 14 years. Jerel also has long time (more than 10 years) in toastmaster.
No pains, no gains. Let’s keep on and become unique star on toastmaster stage!

Thanks and Best Regards,
Lemon Guo

Dear all,

We have invited Tina to give us a presentation on how to evaluate a speech in the meeting this week.
Tina is a very experienced Toastermaster. And she is the division governor of Jiangsu province.
I am sure we can learn a lot from her presentation.
There are not many chances like this.
Be quick, there are still some roles open.

Thanks
Victor

Hi all
I have bought a call bell for our timer role.
You could enjoy your speech show and have to follow strict implementation of time role when the bell rings up.
Have fun!!

Thanks and best regards!
