All,

We had a wonderful night yesterday!

Lulu came back from her vacation and brought some delicious snacks. The room was comfortable. Deng also came after his maternity leave. Furthermore, we had 4 new guests.

Prepared speech session:

Jizong delivered his CC5 speech "The Wordless Language". He showed us how people communicate with fingers, hands, arms, and expression. The speech was well organized. Jizong used PPT as a visual aid. The pictures were very impressive.

Lemon redelivered her CC8 speech "Popular Mobile Games". Actually she delivered the same speech in the last meeting. This time she made a lot of improvement in time control and vocal variety.

Deng delivered his CC5 speech "How My Baby Speaks". After 2 months' absence, Deng returned with a wonderful performance. He shared us the joy he has with his new-born baby. The speech was full of a father's love and the audiences were so touched.

Evaluation session:

Ben, the guest from Nanjing NO.1 club took the evaluation role just before the meeting. He is an experienced Toastmaster. His voice was loud and clear. He gave Jizong some positive feedbacks and also pointed out some areas to improve. He recited from Katie’s speech that a good speaker should not fear of loosing face.

The second evaluator was Sunlight. He got the Most Improved award last week. We could see his evaluation was very specific. He evaluated Lemon’s speech on the structure, the body language and vocal variety.

The third evaluator was Jie. He was the one that evaluated most according to the manual. He specified the objectives of CC5 and then pointed out which of them were accomplished and which needed improve.

There was a common comment to the 3 evaluators. A suggested evaluation is s “Sandwich Evaluation”, which begins with good points of the speech, followed by areas to improve, and followed by motivation and encouragement. They all missed the motivation/encouragement part.

Timer: Li gave us a very clear timer report on the speakers. He also pointed out, “we I say you are not qualified, I don’t mean you speech was not good, I just mean you didn’t have a good time control.” We can see huge improvement on Li through his performance.

An-counter: Lemon was very experienced in Ah-counter. She not only pointed out how many crutches a speaker had during the meeting, but also specified what kind of crutch he/she used most.

Grammarian: Lulu gave us a very knowledgeable  grammarian report. She categorized our grammar errors. Also she shared some baby languages like “Peek-a-boo”. The report was interesting and educating. This matched the spirit of a grammarian. Excellent job! The only pity is that no one used her word of the day “crap”.

Table topic session:

Women’s day was approaching. So it became the theme of this meeting. Katie took the table topic’s role just before the meeting. She showed her profession and hosted this session excellently. She designed a playlet for a man and a woman. The most correct choice she made was that she invited a guest along with an experience member to perform. The playlet was very successful. She gave attention to those who had not spoken on the stage yet. Time seems too short in this interesting session.

Our toastmaster Lesley performed hosted meeting very skillfully. She made smooth transition from session to session. She was also considerate to ask the guests to express their feelings at the end of the meeting.

It was really a wonderful night and a wonderful meeting.

Thanks

Victor
