Graduate School of Engineering (Three Departments), The University of
Tokyo, offer advanced study and research opportunities to foreign
students in the framework of the Special Graduate Program on
Engineering for Systems Innovation ("the Special Program").

The program offers:

* Master's (2 years)
* Doctoral (3 years)

courses leading to the degrees of Master of Engineering and Doctor of
Engineering degrees in the Three Departments, respectively.

Those accepted to Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems
Innovation will be enrolled in the winter semester which begins on
October 1, 2008. Research and instruction are conducted both in
English and in Japanese. Japanese language courses are offered by the
Department of Systems Innovation.

The students for Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems
Innovation will be selected primarily based on academic qualification.
To be eligible for admission to the Master's program an applicant must
hold Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. For admission
to the doctoral program an applicant must hold a Master's Degree or
its equivalent. The age of the applicant must be under 35 on April 1,
2008 and must be citizens of countries with whom the Japanese
government has diplomatic relations.

How To Apply
The following documents (originals and/or several copies as indicated)
must reach the Foreign Student Office of the Department of Quantum
Engineering and Systems Science by January 4, 2008. In case you want
to submit the application urgently to meet the due date please send at
first the documents in PDF files by email, then submit the original
ones through ordinary mail.

The necessary materials to be submitted:

* One original and five copies of Application for Japanese Government
(Monbukagakusyo) Scholarship (Form #1).
* One original and five copies of Field of Study and Study Program
(Form #2).
* One original and five copies of Application for Japanese Government
(Monbukagakusyo) Scholarship (Annex) (Form #3).
* One original and five copies of Certificate of Health completed by a
registered medical doctor. Copy of the latest periodic medical check-
up record of your institute is acceptable.
* One original and six copies of Application Card (Form #4).
* One original and five copies of Self-evaluation Form (Form #5).
* Mailing address labels (Form #6).
* One original and five A4-sized copies of Certificate of Graduation
and Diploma of Degree for each study period (Bachelor, Master,
Doctor), with English translation if the original one is not in
English.
* One original and five A4-sized copies of Official Transcript or
Academic Record of undergraduate and graduate study from each
institution which the applicant graduated from or is presently
enrolled in, with English translation if the original one is not in
English.
* Two evaluation reports (Confidential Evaluation Report on
Applicant). One evaluator must be a dean or a person in higher
position in the institution, the other should be a faculty member of
the institution which the applicant is presently attending or attended
most recently, who knows the applicant well such as an academic
advisor. The evaluation is expected to rank the applicant according to
his/her grade within certain education unit, for example, "top 5%
among 98 students of the department, top 3 among 350 students" (see
Sample). The report should be signed, sealed then sent directly to the
Foreign Students Office of the Department of Quantum Engineering and
Systems Science.
* A recommendation Letter from dean or a person in higher position of
the institution. The letter should address to the President of The
University of Tokyo and be directly sent to the Foreign Students
Office of the Department of Quantum Engineering and Systems Science.
Recommender's E. mail address and telephone number must be indicated.
* Six copies of census register, passport or other proof of
citizenship (do not need to send the original passport).
* Six passport-size photographs (6cm x 4cm) taken within past six
months.
* A summery of thesis, research papers and other publications authored
by applicant.
* Score of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or official
certificate of your English capability. This does not apply to the
native English speakers.
* Score of GRE (Graduate Record Examination), if available.

[UK] The University of Edinburgh International Undergraduate
Scholarships
___________________________________________________________________

The University of Edinburgh will offer ten scholarships for
undergraduate study in any subject offered by the university. The
scholarship will be £1,000 per year and will be tenable for the
duration of the programme of study.
Eligibility

The scholarships are competitive and will be awarded to citizens from
Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and USA who are accepted for
admission on a full-time basis for an undergraduate programme.

The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic
merit.

The scholarship is not available to students already on programme.

Applicants should have applied through UCAS, should already have been
offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly
accepted that offer or be intending to do so. Accepting the University
of Edinburgh as an insurance offer does not satisfy the conditions
relating to this scholarship.

RSM Fellowships Program
__________________________________________________________________

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young
researchers working in academic and research institutions from
eligible countries preparing a doctoral thesis. Research grants cover
residence costs for a 5 to 10 month period in a renowned university or
research center. Fellows are expected to advance their research work
mainly by using the facilities and resources provided by the host
institution and by interacting with peers.

Who Can Apply?

Only lecturers and researchers from eligible countries working on
their doctoral thesis can apply to the fellowship. Candidates should
be under 45 years, and have completed any course work or exams
required for their doctoral program.

What Does the Program Support?

The purpose of the grant is to help fellows advance their doctoral
research work through a residency period of five to ten months in a
host institution in a country other than their home country or country
of residence. During the research period at the host institution, the
fellows are expected to have access to essential resources such as
reference books and research publications, databases, and software;
attend seminars and eventually courses; and to benefit by interacting
with peers.

Host Institution

Candidates should be accepted or invited by a host institution which
would designate an academic advisor to assist the fellow during his
research period. Host institutions should also commit to provide the
fellow with basic amenities such as office space and access to a
computer, and to facilitate his/her research activities.

Fellowships Award

Eligible candidates are evaluated by external reviewers based on three
criteria: academic performance, teaching and research experience, and
relevance of the proposed research program. The top candidates are
submitted to the Selection Committee, which includes World Bank senior
experts and Donors representatives, for final selection. In addition
to the merit criteria, the Selection Committee takes into account
other factors such as availability of budget, geographical diversity
and gender balance.

Grants

Candidates are requested to submit a budget for their fellowship
covering the costs related to their research program: travel;
insurance and living expenses; fees for courses and participation to
seminars; and a books and software allowance. The grant amount to be
awarded to each fellow will be decided by the Selection Committee. The
maximum amount of the grant is US$ 25,000.

Fellow's Commitment

Fellows are required to issue two reports, a mid-term report during
the fellowship period and a final report containing the results of the
research. The results of the McNamara fellows research work may be
considered for publication by the World Bank. Fellows are expected to
return to their home countries and resume their academic or research
position upon completion of the fellowship. They are also expected to
mention the McNamara fellowship award in any publication related to
their doctoral research work, including their thesis, and to provide
the Program with a copy of their thesis upon graduation.

a fellowship award:

* Be a national and resident of a World Bank member country which is
currently eligible to borrow;
* Candidates should be under 45 years. Candidates born before January

Siemens Master Scholarship to Foreign to Study in Germany
__________________________________________________________________

Since 1997, Siemens has awarded scholarships abroad Master Bachelor
graduates and enabled them to study in Germany. At the beginning of
the 2006/2007 academic year, the Scholarship Program Masters Siemens
will continue in cooperation with the best German universities.

Each university is awarded a maximum of five scholarships. In
agreement with Siemens, the university awards these grants to
excellent candidates supported by the country.
Middle East and Eastern Europe:
Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, the Baltic
States, Russia, Bulgaria and Slovenia.
Asia:
China, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore,
Bangladesh and India.

Academics are eligible to participate in one of the master's courses
jointly identified and to meet the criteria for applying to
university.

In addition to financial contributions, we offer seminars and special
training (language courses, intercultural seminars), to provide on-the-
job assignments, supported by researchers in the creation of their
master thesis and offer comprehensive supervision and counselling.

The Siemens master's program aims to promote highly talented students
from abroad, increasing the potential of experts and senior executives
of Siemens and help them develop their full potential. In addition, it
contributes to the internationalization and competitiveness of the
German university and start networking.

Siemens selects candidates on the basis of the following documents:

1. Full CV (curriculum vitae)
2. Detailed explanation of the reasons for participation in the
Master's course favorite (letter),
3. Conditional acceptance letter from PGE,
4. Two reference letters from professors of his country of origin
5. Bachelor's degree or a diploma certificate (copy of the original or
certified translation)
6. High-school certificate or diploma equivalent school certificate
(copy of the original and certified translation).

Fellows receive different types of support: It is limited to a maximum
of 24 months and paid in the form of a monthly grant of subsistence.
The fellowship begins on October 1 of the first academic year. The
monthly financial support is EUR 755. In addition, each researcher
receives money starting to 600 euros. School fees will not be paid. In
addition, researchers will take part in four weeks of intensive German
language courses, which takes place before the end of the study.
Siemens pays the fee for the course, accommodation and pocket money of
400 euros for each participant. Several weeks after the start of the
study, Siemens invites participants to a session opening in Munich.
The event allows researchers to better understand the business, make
contacts with other researchers and to start network. In addition,
each researcher is also invited to a regional meeting students from
other programs.

SEARCA Invites Applications for Graduate Scholarship in Agriculture
2008
___________________________________________________________________

SEARCA invites applications for its graduate scholarship (MS and PhD)
in agriculture and related fields (including biological sciences,
social sciences, economics and statistics, forestry and fisheries,
environmental sciences, agro-industrial technology and engineering,
and biochemistry) for School Year 2009-2010. The scholarship is open
to Southeast Asian nationals, including Indonesians, who are regular
employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies
and not older than 35 years old.

Applicants may submit their applications to the Head, Bureau for
International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education (MONE) in
Jakarta. The MONE then submits the list of applicants accompanied by
the complete set of requirements to SEARCA not later than 30 July
2008. All applicants are required to check with their Ministries of
Education for the deadline of applicants' submission set by the
Ministry.

Any one of the following universities may serve as study posts of
SEARCA scholars: Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia; Kasetsart
University and Thammasat University, Thailand; Institut Pertanian
Bogor, Universitas Gadjah Mada and University of Indonesia, all in
Indonesia; University of the Philippines (UP) Los Banos, UP Diliman,
and UP Visayas, Philippines; and National University of Singapore,
Singapore. SEARCA reserves the right to make the final decision on the
choice of the scholars' study post. Therefore, applicants are required
to submit to SEARCA applications for admission to the Graduate Schools
of at least three universities in the list.

The topic of the research that the applicants plan to conduct for
their thesis must be in line with the thrusts of SEARCA (i.e.,

resources and technology, and strengthening local governance
capability to deliver agricultural services).

SEARCA shall not evaluate applications with incomplete documents.

The Craig Mathieson China Master's Scholarship
___________________________________________________________________

The University of Edinburgh offers a number of International Master's
Scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the
University.
The most outstanding candidate from China who applies for an
International Master's Scholarship will receive the Craig Mathieson
China Master's Scholarship which was set up in 2005 in memory of Craig
Mathieson who served as Director of the International Office from 2001
until his death in 2005. Craig was widely admired and welcomed in a
number of countries including China where the University attracts a
large number of students each year.

The Craig Mathieson China Master's Scholarship will have a value of
£5,000 which will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship
will be tenable for one academic year.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to a Chinese citizen who is normally
resident in China, and who is accepted for admission on a full-time
basis for a postgraduate Master's programme of study at the University
of Edinburgh.

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University
of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be
intending to do so.

Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit
with candidates requiring a Bachelor Degree with a Cumulative Grade
Point Average of at least 3.3 out of 4, or equivalent, from a
recognised Chinese university.

In addition to the above academic qualifications, the selection panel
will also take into account the financial circumstances of applicants
to ensure that as far as possible a student's financial situation does
not impede a university education at the University of Edinburgh.

(Yayasan SDM-IPTEK) didirikan oleh Prof. Dr.-Ing. B.J. Habibie (mantan
presiden RI) pada tahun 1997. Badan pengurus yayasan ini diketuai oleh
Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro, mantan Menteri Pendidikan dan
Kebudayaan, dan memiliki tujuan :
l Mewujudkan sumber daya manusia Indonesia yang unggul dan memiliki
kualitas Iman dan Takwa yang tinggi.
l Menguasai, mengembangkan dan mengendalikan ilmu pengetahuan dan
teknologi secara mandiri.
Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut diatas, Yayasan melakukan kegiatan
sebagai berikut:
l Memberikan beasiswa untuk tingkat S3 (Doktor),
l Memberikan penghargaan dan hadiah kepada orang atau Badan yang telah
berjasa atau melakukan terobosan di bidang Ilmu Pengetahuan dan
Teknologi (Habibie Award).
l Mengembangkan Sumber Daya Manusia dalam Ilmu Pengetahuan dan
Teknologi (Iptek).
l Membentuk atau membantu berdirinya Pusat Peragaan Ilmu Pengetahuan
dan Teknologi.

BEASISWA S3
Beasiswa diberikan 2 (dua) kali setahun yaitu:
a. Periode bulan Mei
Formulir harus sampai di panitia paling lambat 21 April tahun
berjalan.
b. Periode bulan Nopember
Formulir pendaftaran diajukan paling lambat tanggal 20 Oktober.
Persyaratan yang harus dipenuhi untuk beasiswa S3.
l Usia maksimum 35 tahun.
l Tidak menerima beasiswa dari lembaga atau sumber lainnya.
l Sudah diterima atau telah mendapatkan surat keterangan diterima
dalam program S3 di perguruan tinggi atau lembaga yang berada di
Indonesia.
l Selama mengikuti program S2, penerima beasiswa S3 harus mendapatkan
nilai cum laude atau minimal berada pada peringkat ke-5.
l Pendaftar harus menyerahkan dua rekomendasi dari tokoh ilmuwan dalam
bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi.
l Pendaftar harus menunjukkan sikap kepemimpinan dalam bidangnya dan
memiliki tingkat integritas dan kreatifitas yang tinggi.

Proses pendaftaran dan seleksi
l Pendaftar harus mengisi formulir pendaftaran secara lengkap disertai
dengan dokumen penunjang.
l Pemilihan penerima beasiswa ditentukan dalam sidang dewan pakar yang
telah ditentukan oleh Yayasan.
l Seleksi dilakukan berdasarkan 5 (lima) kelompok bidang ilmu yakni :
1. Kelompok Ilmu Dasar,
2. Kelompok Ilmu Kedokteran dan Bioteknologi,
3. Kelompok Ilmu Rekayasa,
4. Kelompok Ilmu Sosial, Hukum, Ekonomi dan Politik,
5. Kelompok Ilmu Filsafat, Agama dan Budaya.

Tunjangan
Beasiswa yang diberikan berupa:
l biaya pendidikan (SPP) dan dana studi lainnya,
l tunjangan tugas akhir,
l tunjangan biaya buku/fotokopi,
l tunjangan biaya hidup,
l tunjangan biaya transportasi dari daerah ke tempat kuliah (jika saat
melamar ada di daerah di luar tempat belajar)

INFORMASI MENGENAI PERSYARATAN
BEASISWA S2 & S3 LUAR NEGERI
TAHUN 2008

A. INFORMASI UMUM
1. Beasiswa disediakan Departemen Komunikasi dan Informatika
(Depkominfo) bagi :


1. PNS, yakni pegawai negeri sipil di lembaga departemen dan lembaga
non-departemen, baik di lingkungan pemerintah pusat maupun pemerintah
daerah.
2. Karyawan lembaga pendidikan, yakni pimpinan, dosen, dan staf pada
lembaga-lembaga pendidikan, baik negeri maupun swasta.
3. Karyawan industri TIK, yakni pimpinan, karyawan dan karyawati
perusahaan-perusaha an di bidang teknologi informasi dan komunikasi,
baik BUMN/D maupun swasta murni.
4. Masyarakat umum, yakni pihak-pihak di luar tiga kategori tersebut,
termasuk perorangan.


2. Beasiswa akan diberikan kepada para pelamar yang oleh Panitia
Seleksi dinilai memenuhi persyaratan untuk mengikuti program
pendidikan S2 dan S3 di perguruan tinggi di Belanda, Perancis,
Australia, Swedia, dan nggris
yang telah ditetapkan Depkominfo.

3.Pelamar wajib memilih program studi sesuai dengan bidang-bidang
studi yang telah ditetapkan Depkominfo, dan khusus bagi yang
mendapatkan tugas akhir berupa penelitian, wajib menyelesaikan
penelitian dengan tema / topik sesuai visi dan misi Depkominfo.

4.Bagi pelamar beasiswa S3, wajib melampirkan proposal penelitian
dalam bahasa Inggris sesuai standar penulisan ilmiah.

5.Pelamar yang saat ini telah memiliki Surat Penerimaan (Letter of
Acceptence) dari perguruan tinggi yang telah ditetapkan Depkominfo,
dan Surat tersebut telah mendapatkan verifikasi dari Depkominfo, akan
mendapatkan prioritas.

6.Pelamar wajib mengikuti ketentuan dan aturan yang telah ditetapkan
Depkominfo.

B. INFORMASI KHUSUS
1. Persyaratan

Umum:


1. Warga Negara Indonesia (WNI)
2. Sehat jasmani dan rohani

3. Tidak sedang mendapatkan fasilitas beasiswa dari pihak lain
4. Mengikuti ketentuan dan aturan yang telah ditetapkan Depkominfo


Khusus:


1. Lulusan S1 bagi pelamar beasiswa S2 atau lulusan S2 bagi pelamar
beasiswa S3
2. Memiliki IPK minimum 2,75 ( dari skala 4,0)
3. Memiliki nilai Institutional TOEFL minimum 550 atau IELTS minimum
6.5 (batas waktu tes terakhir adalah tahun 2006)
4. Memiliki nilai Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) minimum 550 (batas waktu
tes terakhir adalah tahun 2006). Bagi yang belum memiliki nilai TPA,

6. Mendapat rekomendasi dari pejabat berwenang (minimum dari pimpinan
instansi setingkat Eselon II bagi PNS, dari pimpinan perusahaan atau
pejabat lain yang berwenang bagi karyawan dan karyawati industri TIK,
dari pimpinan perguruan tinggi atau pejabat yang berwenang di lembaga
pendidikan bagi pimpinan satuan kerja, dosen dan staf di lembaga
pendidikan, dan dari dosen pembimbing skripsi atau pembimbing tesis
bagi masayarakat umum)

7. Diutamakan :


1. Memiliki masa kerja sekurang-kurangnya 2 tahun, terhitung mulai
tanggal diangkat menjadi PNS dalam gelar S1 pada instansi yang
bersangkutan (bagi pelamar kategori PNS) atau memiliki pengalaman
bekerja minimum 2 tahun (bagi pelamar kategori karyawan dan karyawati
perusahaan industri TIK, dan masayarakat umum)
2. Berusia usia maksimum 35 tahun (bagi pelamar beasiswa S2) dan 40
tahun (bagi pelamar beasiswa S3) pada saat pendaftaran
3. Belum memiliki gelar dan tidak sedang mengikuti program pendidikan
S2 (bagi pelamar program S2) dan S3 (bagi pelamar program S3)


8. Khusus bagi pelamar beasiswa S2 dan S3 yang telah lulus seleksi
penerimaan calon mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi luar negeri yang sesuai
dengan ketetapan Depkominfo, wajib melampirkan Surat Penerimaan
(Letter of Acceptence) dari perguruan tinggi yang bersangkutan

9. Mengisi Formulir Pendaftaran

10. Menandatangani Surat Pernyataan yang telah disediakan.

Formulir Pendaftaran yang telah diisi dan seluruh dokumen yang

C. PROSES SELEKSI DAN PEMBERANGKATAN

1. Proses Seleksi

Proses seleksi terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu:


1. Seleksi administratif, yakni tahap penilaian terhadap kelengkapan
dokumen yang dipersyaratkan
2. Seleksi kemampuan akademik, yakni tahap penilaian terhadap
kemampuan bahasa Inggris (nilai TOEFL/IELTS) , TPA, GRE/GMAT (bila
diperlukan), dan aspek lain untuk menyusun daftar pendek berdasarkan
peringkat prestasi, prioritas, dan potensi pelamar.
3. Wawancara, yakni tahap penilaian terhadap tujuan dan motivasi
belajar, sikap kepribadian, dan hal-hal lain yang berkaitan dengan
tujuan program beasiswa.


2.Proses Pemberangkatan


1. Pemberangkatan ke negara-negara tujuan studi segera dilaksanakan
bila pelamar:

1. Selesai mengikuti seluruh proses persiapan yang diselenggarakan
oleh Depkominfo
2. Memiliki Surat Penerimaan (Letter of Accepatence) dari perguruan
tinggi yang telah ditetapkan, dan surat tersebut telah diverifikasi
oleh Depkominfo
3. Memenuhi aturan keimigrasian negara tujuan studi
4. Memiliki surat ijin belajar dari Pemerintah Indonesia
5. Tidak sedang dalam keadaan hamil pada saat pemberangkatan ke negara
tujuan studi

2. Prioritas pemberangkatan diberikan kepada pelamar yang telah
lulusseleksi dan telah memiliki Surat Penerimaan (Letter of
Acceptence) dari perguruan tinggi yang telah ditetapkan Depkominfo.


D. CAKUPAN DAN KEWAJIBAN PENERIMA BEASISWA

1. Cakupan Beasiswa


1. Biaya kuliah (tuition fee)
2. Biaya perjalanan pesawat udara kelas ekonomi pergi-pulang dari dan
ke negara tujuan studi (pada saat keberangkatan dan kepulangan)
3. Uang penempatan awal (establishment cost)
4. Biaya hidup selama mengikuti pendidikan (living allowance)
5. Asuransi kesehatan
6. Biaya pengurusan visa pelajar (student visa)


Catatan:


1. Peserta yang telah berkeluarga dapat membawa serta keluarganya ke
negara tujuan studi dengan biaya sendiri (Depkominfo tidak memberi
tunjangan keluarga).
2. Formulir pendaftaran harus diisi dengan jelas dibubuhi materai
secukupnya dan disertai dengan semua dokumen sebagaimana tersebut
dalam Daftar Kelengkapan Persyaratan
3. Keputusan Panitia Seleksi bersifat mutlak, tidak dapat diganggu
gugat.


2. Kewajiban pelamar


1. Mematuhi seluruh peraturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Depkominfo
berkaitan dengan program beasiswa
2. Mematuhi peraturan negara tujuan studi sebagai pemegang visa
pelajar (student visa)
3. Berperilaku baik dan menjaga nama baik Negara Kesatuan Republik
Indonesia selama mengikuti pendidikan di luar negeri
4. Melaporkan perkembangan dan hasil studi kembali kepada Depkominfo
selama mengikuti dan setelah menyelesaikan pendidikan di luar negeri.

7 PhD and three PostDoc positions in short range sensing,
localization and wireless communication

7 PhD scholarships and 3 PostDoc fellowships related to the MELODY
project are offered within the area of Wireless sensor networks at
the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications , NTNU and at
the Department of Informatics , University of Oslo in collaboration
with Rikshospitalet University Hospital and Norwegian Defence
Research Establishment. Download the full announcement.

The scholarships are financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR)
under the VERDIKT program . The project is on medical sensing,
localization, and communications using ultra wideband technology
(MELODY) for 7 years (2008-2015) and is a joint effort among
Rikshospitalet University Hospital, Norwegian University of Science
and Technology, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, and
University of Oslo. The project will have strong collaboration with
several top international universities and leading industry in areas
of wireless technology and medical sensing. Information about the

The goal of the project is to develop more basic understanding of,
and novel and more efficient principles for the above mentioned area,
and address improvements in short range medical sensing,
localization, and energy-efficient and robust wireless communications
for inside and on body applications.

1. Ultra Wideband Communication Three PhD and one Postdoc fellowships
are available in the area of wireless sensor network and will focus
on cognitive wireless sensor networks, signal processing for robust
in-body/on-body communications, and distributed signal processing for
communications (joint optimization of source-channel coding and
modulation, (etc.), where energy minimization of and spectrum
utilization are emphasized. Algorithms based on bio-inspired networks
with self-awareness, learning capability, and use of artificial
intelligence (AI) will be investigated. The overall optimization aims
at the end-to-end throughput, minimization of delay and bit error
rate/packet error rate, and the reduction of the effect of
interferences

2. Microelectronics for Ultra Wideband Localization Two PhD and one
Postdoc fellowships are available in microelectronics implementation
for high precision in-body/on-body localization and will focus on
time-domain implementations of impulse radio based solutions using
wireless sensor network in nanometer scale microelectronics. The
candidates must be able to handle the full design cycle for custom-
designed microelectronics. Implemented solutions must be demonstrated
in prototype setup. In conjunction with prototyping some programming
skills for microcontrollers are required. Background in RF design
would be an advantage.

3. Ultra Wideband Radar Two PhD and one Postdoc fellowships are
available in ultra wideband (UWB) radar for medical application and
will focus on short range sensing and imaging of human body. The team
will be using a prototype UWB radar system for measuring heart beat
and other vital signs parameters. The initial work will focus on
determining optimal frequency range and signal processing methods for
extraction of different body parameters, where time-frequency-space
analysis, phased array imaging and other signal processing methods
will be investigated

PhD candidates working in Topic #1 will be enrolled at NTNU in
Trondheim, while PhD candidates working in Topics #2 and #3 will be
enrolled at the University of Oslo. The candidates in Trondheim will

security clearance. They will all work in strong and active
scientific environments, and the project will incorporate
collaboration with several foreign partners, including National and
European industry. Absolute requirement is that active international
publication ofresearch results in high impact, top peer-reviewed
journals and conferences must be pursued.

We seek highly motivated individuals holding a masters degree or
equivalent education in electrical/computer engineering,
communication technology, microelectronics, or other relevant
disciplines. The candidates must formally be qualified for Ph.D.
studies at NTNU or University of Oslo. General information about

PhD positions are available for 3 years, where Postdoc positions are

The salary and terms are according to the Norwegian state
regulations. The PhD position salary will be at NOK 325 800 – 350 000
per annum, while the Postdoc position salary will be at NOK 400 000 –
430 000 per annum. Full salary during illness and five week paid
holidays are according to the state regulations.

The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to
announce the availability of approximately 40 new Fulbright under the
Scholarship Program Fulbright presidential pursue Ph.D. Degree in the
United States for the 2007-2008 school year. The Fulbright Program in
Indonesia promotes mutual understanding between the Republic of
Indonesia and the United States of America through educational
exchanges and academic scholarship. Fulbright Scholarships are
available for Indonesian citizens with appropriate qualifications as
stipulated in the description below.
Eligibility and Requirements

Preference will be given to applicants who serve or plan to serve the
faculty members of the state and private institutions of higher
learning in Indonesia and never received any Fulbright Scholarship.

Candidates who possess:

* A bachelor’s degree and / or control of a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a
scale of 4.00).
* Demonstrated leadership qualities.
* A good understanding of other cultures and Indonesian.
* A commitment to the chosen field of study.
* A willingness to return to Indonesia at the completion of the
Fulbright program and take academic positions in higher education when
