General Description
The Infrastructure Platform Engineer will be part of the IT Infrastructure Planning team. The primary responsibilities IT Planning team are analyzing and improving IT services, reducing operational costs, providing recommendations and building technical designs for business requirements, and increasing the reliability of business processes and IT systems. The position is located in Bangalore and will report to the Manager of Infrastructure in the US.
The Infrastructure Platform Engineer will be responsible for:
· Participating in strategy and planning discussions to drive alignment with the missions and values for Infrastructure
· Managing project intake demand from the business for IT services and support
· Resource forecasting and project planning including scope and expectation management
· Engaging with stakeholders to gather infrastructure requirements and produce high-level infrastructure designs including cost and timeline estimates
· Developing and driving consistent process adoption across IT.
· Analyzing IT spending and identifying opportunities for cost savings
· Recommending and driving efficiencies in process and technology improvements
· Developing an effective engagement model between IT and the Engineering and Corporate stakeholders.
· Vendor management and accountability including vendor selection process, price negotiations, contract renewals, and facilitating monthly review meetings
- Developing dashboards to track IT resource allocation against projects and utilization of servers, storage, network, and data center capacity
· Understanding the IT funding model and making recommendations to reduce operating expenses.
· Comprehensive understanding of infrastructure technologies including server hardware, OS, networking, storage, backup, and application functionality
- Lead and/or contribute on “major projects” utilizing a structured Project Management Methodology.
· Defining technology roadmaps based on business needs and vendor technology enhancements
- Evaluating new technologies and provide recommendation to management including planning and execution of POC activities.
Position Requirements
· Bachelors’ degree in Information Management, Computer Science.
· Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical decision making skills.
· Excellent communications skills with the ability to articulate business requirements into technology solutions
· Strong IT Infrastructure technology experience in Datacenters, servers, storage, OS, Networking and foundation services.
· Experience in presenting a plan (strategy, technical, engagement model) to a broad audience and influencing decisions
· Ability to present data in a clear and concise format
· Service oriented approach to address technology issues and solutions.
Preferred Additional Requirements
- Quality training (Six Sigma, TQM, ISO or other)
- Masters Degree in IT related field
- Background in a customer facing/professional services type position
- Finance/budget experience or training
