    • Highlights: Joseph reunites with his brothers and his father. Much weeping ensues. Joseph plants the seeds (in farmland) for future slavery, but for now lives in prosperity.

    When anti-Semitism strikes our community, we stand up and stand together.
    This Sunday, we will march through our streets -- proud, united, and strong.
    The 1.5 million Jews of our great city and region will not stand down. We will not be intimidated.
    We invite New Yorkers of every background to stand with us and say no to hate and no to fear.

    Meet at Foley Square at 11:00 am.
    We will march across the Brooklyn Bridge to Columbus Park (near Cadman Plaza)

    Altshul's Winter Shabbaton with Rabbi Aviva Richman, January 10 - 11, and will include Friday night davenning and dinner with learning, as well as Saturday morning services, followed by lunch and more learning with our visiting scholar.

  • B'nei Mitzvah Tutoring
    If you are available for b'nei mitzvah tutoring and would like your name included on a community list to be accessed by the Park Slope/Prospect Heights/Crown Heights communities, please fill out this form
    .  We will put together a list to share with families in the Luria, PHS, CKI, Altshul communities.  Tutors will set their own rates and make arrangements directly with families.

  • The Intergenerational Beit-Midrash is back!
  • Larry Magarik will be teaching five sessions on Darchei Tefilah. Expect hevruta and shuir focusing on the meaning (rather than mechanics) of prayer. These learning sessions, accompanied by a light pot-luck lunch, will be held at community member homes after Kiddush on Jan. 25, March 14, April 25, and May 9.
    Serious learners of all ages are welcome. Generally 10-years old and up has been most successful.

Community Announcements
  • Eden Village Camp Info Sessions, Jan 5 & Feb 2
    Eden Village Camp is a farm-to-table, Jewish, organic sleepaway camp in the Hudson Valley. Campers learn about herbalism, cooking, animal care, farming, art, music, spirituality, survival skills, and more – all the traditional camp activities plus a joyful environmental ethos, innovative back-to-the-land spirituality, and a culture of kindness that is the true magic of the place. There are two informational sessions in Brooklyn coming up in January and February:
    • January 5th at 4pm we'll be in Prospect Heights running a dipped beeswax shabbat candle workshop and Eden Village Camp info session
    • February 2nd at 1pm we'll be in Crown Heights running a goat milk soap making workshop and Eden Village Camp info session
    All events will be hosted at a current camp family's home. Interested families can RSVP here, and we'll reach out with the address. 

  • Hadar National Shabbaton
    Join Hadar for our second ever National Shabbaton, which will take place at the Hilton Stamford January 31-February 2. We would love to have a strong core of people like you, who are living out our mission on a day to day basis.  We look forward to creating a space where you can connect with other people who are davening and building community as an independent minyan.
