The Altshul community is invited to study and drink at an Oneg Shabbat
with visiting scholars Charlie and Andrea Schwartz.

The topic will be: The Jewish Sex Ethic: Rabbinic Perspectives on
Intimacy
What do the rabbis of the Talmud have to say about sex and intimacy?
How do they deal with issues of pleasure, obligation and procreation?
Explore some of the conflicting rabbinic traditions about sexuality
and intimacy is this journey through some of the Talmud's most
interesting passages.
2) Shabbat Morning Minyan + Potluck Lunch and Learn, March 13th,
10:00 am
Altshul will meet Shabbat morning, March 13th, in the Rabbi’s
Office at Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn, NY
11215. Kindershul will start at the beginning of the torah service.
Altshul will be hosting a vegetarian potluck lunch and learn after
services. The topic will be: The Jewish Response to Disaster. Our
teachers will be visiting scholars Charlie and Andrea Schwartz. As
usual, extra points for anyone who brings a main dish or a protein.
Please note Altshul's kashrut policy: all food must be prepared in a
kosher or strictly vegetarian kitchen.

13) Jewish Funds for Justice Community Organizing Residency
Interested in a career in meaningful social change work? The
Community Organizing Residency (COR), is a new initiative of the
Jewish Funds for Justice. COR is a six-month, paid residency for
people from Jewish, Muslim, Christian and other faith backgrounds who
want to make community organizing their profession. Residents will
gain social justice experience working with leading organizing groups
in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay

14) New Israel Social Change Program for Young Adults
The Yahel Social Change Program is a unique 5-month service learning
experience for young adults between the ages of 21 and 27. The program
is based in the town of Gedera in Israel, and combines hands-on
volunteer work with in-depth learning and immersion. The program is
offered in collaboration with Friends by Nature – a local grassroots
non-profit organization working in the Ethiopian community in the
fields of community empowerment and education. Throughout the program
participants live, volunteer and learn alongside young adults from the
