Agile: Iterations

Since there's a few people here that practices agile. I would like to
know how do you people execute or plan an iteration. I've been reading
about iterations and it is hard for me to understand it. Maybe I've
been doing it inadvertently do it in my course of developing
softwares. But I would like to hear your experience on it.
