 hey all,
maybe some of you have experienced this. i'm looking for a laptop to carry a *occasional* development session.
i'm a firm believer in desktops however for travels or milium i'd like something that can carry visual studio, eclipse and netbeans
development fairly well. for now i'm using an outdated Celeron / 512MB machine, with a little effort it can carry all of those however it does give me some pain, compiling
stuff may take up to a minute (c++).

i've been looking at netbooks, because they have a good battery life, however just recently read that the atom is a Celeron-M equivalent.
i've also looked at the low end T3400 (lenovo N500) units, however not sure how they fair with development.

target price is 2-3k, given that i would only use it few times a month

if anyone can prove me wrong on what i've said or suggest new ideas please do!

thanks

I think the Netbooks' "too small a keyboard" will drive you mad.
I say - hunt for a second hand, year old machine. 3K is doable.

sorry but this is a rare time away from the wife to catch up on PDC, NDC, MIX and make some fair advances with my projects :)

Try importing a laptop from the US.

the one Ive got, cost there 3600NIS instead of 5500 NIs here.
allowed me to get a good machine for a reasnobale price.

In your price range you should be able to get a good development machine and not a lousy netbook.
