Hi guys,

Believe it or not, we are not using any CI-CD system at my workplace.
Now we are contemplating adding one.
Any suggestions for newbies?
I might add that we are totally Microsoft stack shop.
We are using VS 2015 (soon upgrading to 2017) with tfs 2015.

Thank you very much.

Avraham.

Hi,

I highly recommend TeamCity (https://www.jetbrains.com/teamcity/).
Very easy to setup, very flexible and reliable, with tons of useful features, both for newbies and advanced scenarios.

The free offering includes 100 build configurations and 3 agents.

We've been using TeamCity for more then 8 years now, and I personally used it since 2008.

Good luck :)
Yossi

TeamCity is a really sweet product, with all the Jetbrains ease of use bundled in. If you need more raw power at the expense of some extra setup time you'd want to look at Jenkins as well.
Disclaimer - last time I really used either was around 2012.

One tips for champions: The continuous build servers tend to have all kinds of integrations and bells and whistles, which all translate to vendor lock, and some are not easily trackable in SCM. Have a makefile (build.cmd/ps1/sh/whatever) checked in to your source repository, and have the whichever build server call into it with an appropriate target.
