Please join us for a Right2Know Western Cape Activist Workshop tomorrow and Friday from 9h00 to 16h00 at the AIDC Solidarity Centre, 129 Rochester Road, Observatory.

All are welcome. Please send a representative for as much of the workshop as you can on either tomorrow or Friday.
The workshop will cover:
1. What's still wrong with the Secrecy Bill?: An update on the Secrecy Bill and planning to intensify opposition.
2. R2K Principles & Strategy: An overview of the Right2Know's principles and current strategy
3. The Right to Communicate: Understanding the power of the internet & cell phones, campaigning for access to free basic & affordable airtime, sms, and internet.
4. Media freedom & diversity in the Province: An assessment of media freedom & diversity, and planning for a more people centered media
5. CBO/NGO & community media partnerships: Exploring opportunities to engage and partner community media in the province

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
A. Consolidate R2K supports
1. Review and revised remaining problems with secrecy bill
2. Understand the Right2Know structure and strategy (including 4 legs)
3. Understand and support R2K Principles
4. Set up a provincial media freedom and diversity working group
B. Develop media freedom and diversity focus for the province
5. Assess media freedom and diversity in the Province: Are we getting he media we need?
6. Understand opportunitites for community media partnerships
C. Develop right to call focus for the province
7. Understand the importance of the Right2Call and current limitations.
8. Develop provincial priories and a plan of action to campaign for media freedom and diversity
9. Develop a provincial priorities and a pan of action to campaign for the right top call
