INVITE: Right2Know workshop on Digital Television in South African - 29 OCTOBER 2012

Dear R2Kers, friends and colleagues, 

South Africa is on the brink of moving to digital television. There are promises and pitfalls… 

Promises include new channels, new programmes and better picture quality. Pitfalls include the risk of greater commercialization  the costs of rolling out the digital network, the cost to citizens of buying new decoders (set top boxes) to access the digital signal and the costs to broadcasters of producing new programming.

The R2K campaign is holding a workshop with international broadcasting expert Russell Southwood to begin to understand, unpack, debate and dissect these issues.
