Hi Folks

Been meaning to submit something for quite a while, but never quite find the time.

Here is a piece I’ve pulled together which forms the core concept for my presentation at Games Connection later this year.

Not sure what the etiquette is but thought I should post a link here and get your feedback before submitting.

Looking forward to comments

Best regards

Oscar

Does no-one have any comments?

Does that mean its not really the kind of thing you want? or that its ok as is?

Let me know ASAP as I want to put this live either here or I can put it on the UnityBlog

I don't know enough about Unity to comment, I'm afraid.

I can't access the site. I've given up clicking until the server is working.

If you post on your own blog or somewhere like Google docs I would read it.

Also the original email doesn't say anything about the topic of the article.

Yeah just had a quick look and http://www.altdev.co/?p=31196&preview=true gives me "this webpage is not available"

Thanks guys - was thinking I had a problem my end

The piece is based on my speech at Games Connection this year which is about the nature of habit forming techniques in games and how it can be used for good or evil. It's really a case to say that the idea od games as manipulation is over exaggerated and short term at best. I also try to make the case that commercially it makes no sense too as in the end players reject your game if they feel taken advantage of. It's counter productive.

Hope that makes sense.

I'll try the site again tomorrow - hopefully it will be back up

Hi Oscar

Sorry I didn't get a chance to check your post, it's also still not accessible (from my phone at least).

Minor thing, I know you've already explained now but I'd like to echo Adam's point about the importance of describing the content in your request for a review...

Most of us are pretty busy people and a hint of what it's about is more likely to pique someone's interest and get them to read it despite their busy schedule ;)

Thanks Alex. I can't access it either... not sure why (it was worked at the time I sent out the email) probably something I didn't do

I've noted the summary thing and will make sure I do that in future (just wrote a very short one but can happily ellaborate)
