WALK FOR THE CHILDREN OF SYRIA THIS SATURDAY

On May 25th thousands of activists across the country will participate in the Walk for the Children of Syria, a nationwide event that aims to raise awareness about the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria. This walk will raise awareness and the funds will go towards the children in Syria that are currently suffering under the dictatorship of Assad. With each passing day, regime violence in Syria continues to escalate.

 

The Syrian American Council has helped organize this nationwide walk. Some locations of walks include Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, LouisvilleTampa, among others. Click here for a complete list of cities participating in the walk for the children of Syria.

GEORGIA CHAPTER TO CO-HOST 'PEACEFUL DEFIANCE' 
 
 
The Georgia chapter of the Syrian American Council (SAC) and the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) are hosting an exclusive exhibit of the famous, original posters and banners of "Kafranbel" to be followed by a special performance of the critically-acclaimed Syrian play 'Let's Talk'.  The event will be held this Saturday, May 25, 


Syrian Composer & Pianist, Malek Jandali will be at this event to meet the audience and autograph albums. Malek was one of the first Syrian creative artists to support the protests in Syria, and continue to do so with his music, don't miss this opportunity to meet him and get a signed album.

CDS WEBINAR: THE STATE OF U.S. SYRIA POLICY

Please join the Coalition for a Democratic Syria (CDS) for our webinar series. On May 30 at 9:00 pm EST, Mohammad A. Ghanem, Government Relations Director of Syrian American Council, Aram Baghdjian, Government Affairs Direct of Syrian American Alliance, and Jason Hunt, Policy Fellow of SAC will discuss the results of National Advocacy Day for Syria. Bassel Korkor, Board Member of United for Free Syria will discuss advocacy within the United Nations in New York and the recently passed UN Resolution.

As part of its Sister Cities program, the Northern California chapter of SAC, along with Karam Foundation, is proud partner with the Civilian Administrative Council of Abu Kamal to directly support their relief and governance efforts in a variety of projects. Abu Kamal is surrounded by wheat fields, yet its population depends on donations of flour after its flour mill was destroyed. Click here to help Abu Kamal to be self-sufficient and consistently produce enough bread for its population.

The Interim Government will also be responsible for rebuilding Syria.
