Has anyone in this group had any experience with the British
Interplanetary Society. Either been a member or been to any meetings.
I've an interest in finding out about manned Mars missions.

Hello Roy,

I have never been to their meetings. The only meetings I have been to about long term manned space flight were at the RAS organised by Kevin Fong. Big challenges on the medical and psychological fronts as well as the engineering of how to get there, land and then survive for several years till you can return. Of course sterilisation to meet the planetary protection protocol will be rather difficult. Apollo contaminated the Moon with various human born biology but who cares about the Moon - people forget it is in the habitable zone just as much as Earth is.

Regards

John
