There was a small display of NLC on Friday Morning in the NNW. Not clear why there was nothing visible in the NE which is where you would expect it in the morning.
Nothing significant recorded on my automated observatory Friday evening.
The display this morning between 02:00 & 03:00 UTC was one of the best I have seen in a long time. The entire sky in the arc from N to E up to an elevation of about 30 degrees was covered with NLC. Have quite a few images but need to check them prior to publication.
Details of my automated observatory are on my website at www.JohnMurrell.org.uk however I have just learnt that I need to rewrite the scripts I use to download the night cloud images – EUMETSAT have changed the way users can interact with their archive ! Hopefully they won’t implement the change till the NLC season has completed in July.
Sorry I have been quite here for some time – my 3 astronomical research projects have been keeping me busy and have not yet reached the status where too much can be said in public. I am hopeful of getting some more data on my Exoplanet discovery in the next few months. Hopefully this will provide sufficient data to get some time on a large telescope but we will see. The problem is the transit is so long it needs more than one 2m class telescope to get a spectrum during the entire transit time. Still once we get a better light curve we will have to see what happens.
The second project needs me to understand synchrotron radiation better.
It looks as though project 3 needs Gaia DR3 data rather than DR2 L

Thanks. If they appear at sunset then you can see them in the South West and at sunrise in the North East.
If they appear it's usualy an hour to an hour and half before sunset and hour before sunrise.
You may have noticed blurring in the picture. Have not quite mastered astrophotography with my new camera. I am more used to robotic telescopes or a bridge camera.

Well done Paul. Do they appear in any particular direction, eg with the rising sun behind them?

However at 2.45 am I looked out of my window and saw some clouds and took an image with my new DSLR Canon EOS 1300D. This is my first DSLR, although I did own an Olympus OM1 many years ago.
