I've been using the ArdAltair as a teaching moment for my kids on the evolution of computers.
Anyone tried getting Turbo Pascal to work? I've read that it supports 8080, but other sources say it requires a z80.
In the mean-time, I've had some success with Pascal MT. http://www.z80.eu/pas-compiler.html

Thanks

I made some test using the simulator from Peter Schorn which can run in 8080 mode or z80 mode:
Turbo Pascal V1.0 and V3.0 works in Z80 mode but not in 8080 mode. The information on the web seems to indicate there was an 8080 version but it is not explicitly said.
When running TP in Z80 mode the startup banner says CP/M-80, Z80 so it is possible there was an 8080 version.

It looks like it mY have gone as Compas Pascal or Poly Pascal before it was a Boreland product. I've been looking, but haven't found anything yet.

I guess there was no 8080 TP:
"Most CP/M programs stick to the 8080 subset for compatibility (one notable exception being Turbo-Pascal which is Z80 only)."
I think you can forget about Compas Pascal and Poly Pascal: It all started on a Z-80.

Blue Label Software Pascal -> Compas Pascal -> Poly Pascal -> Turbo Pascal v1.0

BLS Pascal was a 12k Pascal language subset compiler created for the British NASCOM Z-80 cassette-based kit computer.

Search for JRT-Pascal, maybe it's for the 8080 cpu.

I have an original JRT Pascal 3.0 manual, and it doesn’t indicate any CPU requirements. It does want 56k minimum ram, and at least 90k storage space, and CP/M 2.2 for some file stuff. I would also like to see a Z80 emulator running on these machines. My IMSAI still has a 4MHz Z80 in it, but both Altairs are still 8080 I think.
