Hi,

I was thinking that it would be fun if we could swap out the fonts somehow ...

I'd like to have the Processor Technology Sol-20 font available for CP/M 2.2b and MBASIC.

Swap out the fonts on what? TeraTerm?

Hi,

When I switch from one terminal to another terminal, I would need to install the font each time ... I was thinking that it would be nice if the programs we write could trigger the appropriate font needed.

Just a crazy idea.

The fonts in this case come from your terminal rom.

There is no swapping fonts unless your terminal supports more then one kind of font or you can reprogram the firmware or rom with more available fonts.

In teraterm you can change the fonts your using from the drop down menu and you may find a SOL-20 font somewhere.

Cp/m, mbasic do not have their own fonts, they simply transfer serial information one byte at a time to the terminal based on the ascii table.

The terminal takes in 7 bit or 8 bits at a time and maps it to the character to be displayed on the terminal display.

Hi,

I understand how terminal work, but if they were smarter, a program could either select a font, or download a font to the terminal for the specific programs that require a different than standard ASCII fonts.

It's okay that there is a "default" setup for a terminal, but new terminals today should be smarter and let the computer decide on fonts, colors etc.

I like the VersaTerm ... the menus are great ... but I'd like to be able to send it other fonts, have my programs even select font colors, background colors etc.

You need to understand what terminals are and how they work.
