For those who need more space or for those who fear spoiling the box with poorly positioned holes. They will need aditional 1/2" standoffs and possibly adjust panel size a little.

Thanks, I will stop by Target and get one and check it out.  That's a good price too - less than I pay for mine wholesale.

I did find a 3" deep box last year that fits but it's not very durable.  I bought four and they all eventually broke.

I just picked one up.  It appears to be higher quality than the boxes I'm currently using - the back seems to be real bamboo, instead of MDF.  The front dimensions are pretty much exactly the same, and it's noticeably taller.  The inside dimensions are not that much different - 37mm deep for my current box, 45mm deep for the new one.  You would only need to add additional 8mm standoffs.

Due to the increased height, the SD card would not be accessible from the outside.

Actually, you could add this female 6-pin header (available from Sparkfun).  It's 8.5mm tall and would allow you to access the SD card from the rear of the new case.

I order mine directly from Lipper International, and I've suspected that they have different quality products for different retailers.  For example, I've ordered some from Amazon in a pinch and they are higher quality than the units I get even though they have the exact same manufacturer product code.

Regarding quality... for some reason, my (original) bamboo case decided to "pop its top", as shown in the first photo. The top piece was apparently glued to the back in the center, but the glue let go and the top bowed up. I put some Titebond II premium wood glue in the slot, clamped it, and wiped off the excess on both sides (second photo); let it dry in the clamp 24 hours and now it's good as new. So if this happens to you, it's easily repaired.

I've noticed that bamboo seems sensitive to humidity, and since the pieces weren't made from a single piece of bamboo they tend to expand/contract at different rates, and POP!
