I’m considering creating an expansion card to host the ESP01s WiFi module. I was thinking if a serial card can add a port, why can’t I just make that port an ESP01s?

Would anyone have a schematic of a serial card and or a blank module card layout?

The schematics and PCB layouts for all existing cards are in my GitHub repository:
https://github.com/dhansel/Altair8800-IOBus

The serial card is in subfolder "02-serial-port"

There are also links to the EasyEDA projects for each card in the descriptions for the cards.

Already done.  I just haven't had a chance to fully test it yet.

I'll try to figure out how to share the schematic.

Simply stunned at the incredible body of work.
Didn’t realize all the work had already been done.
Bravo, Dave and Chris.
Such amazing work.

If I can humbly suggest,
Using the Github Method,
Fork and Pull from Dave’s project.

Can you fork an EasyEDA project?

Looking at Handel’s Projects:

Schematics and PCB as well as a Gerber file for PCB production are in this directory.
The project is also available on EasyEDA: https://oshwlab.com/hansel72/iobus-speech-processor-spo256

So I’m guessing that Dave was able to export files and include them in the project folders?

I love all the work that you’ve done,
But I’m considering some streamlining.
Will let you know what I figure out on EasyEDA export.

Hi,

I really should get back on expanding the dictionary for the SPO256-ALS speech chip, but I've been playing with so many other projects.

I still think the SpeakBox I made using the SpeakJet chips (I got lots of them) is easier to program for speech and singing and has a clearer voice.

This is where I’m thinking of going with the expansion card.
I have the greatest respect for going old school on the cards,
But heck, we’ve got a lot of power on that ESP8266…
I thought about using a larger version like the 12F, but think an ESP-32 would have more utility.

Yes, it’s going to be a lot of bit shifting.
But I’m figuring 8 pins into esp32, control lines, and 8 pins out.
Based this off the Display Output card, so IN vs OUT I know.
And I’ll need to see if there’s any reserved pins,
And any easier way to move 8 bits and out

The rest gets set up in software….
Address 0-255
Network Credentials.
Based on Dave’s Wifi Work…

Cost of WRROM-32 is about 10$.
