I am looking for a good VGA monitor to use with the VT100 Emulator. I purchased a
Eyoyo 8 Inch HDMI Monitor 1024x768 Resolution Small Display Portable 4:3 TFT LCD Mini Monitor HD Color Screen Support HDMI VGA BNC AV Ypbpr Input

The font from the emulator is missing part of the scan lines. It looks pretty bad. I have played with the monitor settings and have not been able to make the font clear.

Suggest a small 8" to 10" monitor please!

Can you post a photo of the problem you're having?  I have two of those cheap 4:3 monitors and while both work, one of them came with a bad VGA cable.

I would suspect a bad cable or bad monitor.  Any (fully functional) VGA monitor will work with the VT100 emulator.

I don't know what to say.  That's literally the same monitor I have.  There's nothing unique about the VT100 emulator that requires a special monitor.

I would send it back and get a replacement.

Hi,

I bought a bunch of monitors for $3 to $5 each from my local thrift store.  They all work great ... sizes are from 10" to 20".  I paid 25cents/VGA and power cables too.

I second the thrift store approach. Nice old monitors to be had for a couple bucks and often cables included.

Thanks, Everyone!!

I had not done all the testing before the first post but glad I did and we all agree it is the funky monitor.

I gave up on my Eyoyo 8 as the quality was garbage and it was difficult to read any of the charters as the pixels in the rows would bleed into a solid line even into what should have been whitespace of blank pixels regardless of the adjustments/settings.  I ended up buying and using a Cocar instead...

Best,

keep in mind the best 4:3 LCD monitor is still garbage compared to a real CRT. you don't realize how bad they are until you hook up an old CRT
I'm really pissed at myself for tossing a bunch of 24" Sony CRT Trinitron flat screen monitors 20 years ago in the trash :(

Hi,

I have a 10" COBY color TV I bought used at the local thrift store for 50Cents.  The image is perfect on the screen.

That COBY comes with my Altair-Duino Pro setup I'm selling.  I really only need one Altair-Duino Pro computer so one must go:

Hi,

I have too many Altair-Duino Pro computers and I need the space in my tiny apartment, so I'm selling this Altair-Duino Pro ... it's already boxed-up in heavy duty box ready for shipping ...  or make an offer.

Altair-Duino Pro #1 $1,000 includes shiipping ...

+ 6-Slot IO Expansion Backplane
+ LED Display
+ 88-2SIO Serial
+ 88-PIO
+ 88-ACR
+ 88-C700
+ Speech Processor (includes the SP-0156-AL2 chip and speaks very well)
+ DAZZLER w/2x Joysticks
+ 4-Slot IO Expansion Backplane

I built this computer from the kits ... too bad it doesn't fit in the original box anymore;
