In the text on https://adwaterandstir.com/install-680/, the firmware data is listed as updated on 12/7/25 but the ZIP file has a date of 10/5/25. Are the 12/7/25 files available anywhere?

If you look inside the zip file you'll see that altair680.bin is dated 12/7/2025.

That is the correct number of bytes,  What application are you unzipping with?

Here's what I found after digging way too deep into this rabbit hole:

Your extraction method is not preserving internal ZIP timestamps.

The common cause is “Extract All” in Windows Explorer where behavior depends on version.  Some Windows builds apply the ZIP file’s timestamp to extracted files (like yours) while some use per-file ZIP timestamps (like mine).  Apparently this is a known Windows issue.

I use 7-Zip. I guess it has the same flaw as Windows itself. Sorry for the confusion!

That's funny because the general consensus in posts about it was "Use 7-Zip, not Windows Explorer".

LOL! For me Windows Explorer shows the proper dates and 7-Zip doesn't. I use Win 25H2 26220.7344
