Hello,
I want to take my altairduino to the next level by adding wifi support and bbs software.
Are there any good guides for this? I'm assuming its simply adding in an ESP chip to the breakout and mapping a serial port to it?

Wow, well, I think you start with an esp32.  I’ve run them as web servers and the libraries are easy to understand.  Also there’s decent storage for your sketches.

The original arduino just doesn’t have the power or storage for this task. Yes, it can be done, but  not easily.

Lastly, look around and see if someone else has a good start on this.

I think some of this may depend on which BBS software you want to run. CBBS, for example, needs a custom BIOS that mirrors console input/output with the “modem” and checks for loss of carrier detect.

Other BBS software may not make use of the CP/M BIOS for modem communications.
