DOS 1.0 not really running?

Great fun, love CP/M and Wordstar (after I modified it as suggested) but now I want to run DOS or mini DOS and Fortran. Tried and Mounted DOS in Drive 0, then loaded and it appears to run.

DOS MONITOR VER 1.0

I type: DIR

the computer responds ENTER DRIVE

I type 0

The computer just goes back to the dot prompt? I also tried the STAT and DUMP commands, but with both the system responds PROGRAM NOT FOUND

Maybe DOS Monitor is not the same as the DOS operating system?

MITS DOS is not at all similar to Microsoft DOS. You need to mount a drive before you can do anything. Start here: https://adwaterandstir.com/2017/05/31/altair-dos/

Thanks, I will mount the drive. Going through the manual now. Lots to learn.
