I was thinking that a lot of posters must use their work computers to
post instead of working. Since so many are not going to work they are
doing something other than Usenet. It doesn't really matter to me as I'm
tired of the speculations, and read very few posts in other groups
anyway. I went looking for a pirate discussion last night.

I saw something earlier that was quite curious.

Betty presented the following explanation :
That was a long and disconnected thread.

> I saw something earlier that was quite curious.

I have added the home repair group and the computer group to my reading
list, but there's a lot of crap to trudge through in those groups. I
have the worst offenders marked as read and have the subject lines for
them in different colors so my display is quite colorful.

Now, if I can't sit long, it takes me even longer to post because I
read more and post less. I just now started reading this morning after
having watched some YT (miniseries) movies all afternoon and evening
yesterday.

I got a note from TBird for each of those groups that my filters were
not working and that a backup file had been created. I had to start over
creating new filters. It's a mess, but I may have made a dent, as many
of those really nasty ones can get by with hiding the entire thread.
Cuts the number of posts to wade through and I don't read all of what's
left anyway.

> Now, if I can't sit long, it takes me even longer to post because I read

I watched a movie and I've got a new John Oliver to watch in a few
minutes. YT is great for watching a variety of subjects, that's why I
like it. I watched a guy make a coffee mug (wood turning) and thought
why would anyone go to that much trouble for a mug. I go to my jigsaw
puzzle site and work a couple several times a day. I made a big pot of
taco soup yesterday that should tide me over for a few days. I am safely
isolated, but that's nothing new.

I hope you feel better soon, it gets so tiresome to live with pain and
feel blah all the time. I hope you're still getting the medication you
need and not suffering with many side effects.

It must be quieter and more peaceful with less traffic. I wonder if the
current situation is going to affect the road closure and salamander
volunteer effort for the migration. Everyone I know are working from
home and getting bored.

Instead of closing the road for a few of the crossing nights, they have
reduced the traffic enough by restricting travel to have saved even
more than was otherwise possible.

I see what you mean, good idea. I just woke up after escaping into the
world of sleep for most of the day. Started reading horror stories about
the current status of the pandemic ... gave that up.

I hope you and your family are doing OK. I keep checking news of the
situation in your area, but it's difficult to sort out. You have to go
to the store sooner or later, I don't know about the hospital, that
could get canceled. There aren't many cases in my immediate area, and if
people stay home they won't be transporting anything from the big cities.

I haven't checked today, but the number of cases seemed to be growing

It would make nervous to go to the hospital for anything right now, but
to be there for several hours getting a dangerous medication pumped into
me would definitely be a top notch producer of anxiety. It's a tough
situation, any way you look at it.

I hope your sis doesn't meet up with any clingy friends either. It's
very difficult for the two of you to avoid each other. All you can do is
hope to be some of the lucky people who do not fall victims to the
disease. I will have that hope for you, and for you both to have an
easier time with the current medical problems you both suffer with.

I was hoping you would not go for the infusion. I think that's what
you're telling me! It's very risky to be in public at this stage of the
pandemic and it would be terrible for you to get sick with the virus. I
don't know what it means to your condition to miss a treatment, but
better to miss one, or more, than to face a worse illness. I hope you
will be fine, FTR.

Betty formulated on Friday :
That's what I was thinking. Missing a treatment or stopping the
medication only results in not having the benefits of the medication.
Since my hands are still a mess I'm thinking the medication might not
be working. I'm having a flare which is also a risk factor for the
virus being deadly. So, is a suppressed immune system better than a
dysregulated one?

Betty

I think your decision is the right one, but that's an uneducated
opinion. I'm sorry you're having a flare up, but if your medication
isn't helping it seems just as well to do without. I've always been a
hand washer so I didn't have to be told to wash my hands. I suppose that
might be painful for you if you have a lot of blisters. It just seems to
me that exposure to the virus of any kind would be bad for you. As long
as you take precautions and stay away from people you should be fine.

It's not possible to stay away from people when you have to get food,
but maybe stores are not as busy at certain times, with fewer shoppers.
It is a scary dilemma.

I was just thinking the same thing. I am starting to worry about the
banks and the security of my money. I am out of stamps and need to start
sending the monthly bills, have no idea what to do, but it will work
out. I have food for a couple of weeks then that will become a problem.
Still, I'm way better off than a lot people.

It's good that you and your sis have each other to depend on, for moral
support as well as other things.
